Today I tried a new product by @PrismPosts which allows you to create your own ecash mint powered by a @NWC NWC connection. I made a mint connected to my self-custodial Alby Hub wallet in a few seconds and then connected it to boardwalkcash.com with a new nostr+mintconnect (NMC?) connection. My head is exploding right now 🤯
Whoa
Exactly what I need! 🔥🔥🔥
Mine too nostr:nevent1qqs9z6syyfnvg8ewmf9rl9n2gldk67xq7vlpxjunu4y3mg7c3jnl84cpz4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezummcw3ezuer9wchsygq4kh8keh6068qz729uec83jl904exgclrx503wywhelesssaf3tcpsgqqqqqqs5w95m4
what is ecash for? when we have satoshis etc. I don't understand why we have it. anyone explain this simply?
asynchronous payments lightning is synchronous you can't send to someone's LN address unless there is a server answering there ecash lets you send a payment like lightning except that it's less anonymous (to the mint) without the recipient being online mutiny, and some other projects are using this as a bridge to cope with intermittent connectivity for non-custodial lightning payments
Yeah, THIS. Its not about privacy improvements, IMO. Its about 1) sending money directly to someone, instead of asking for an invoice, 2) not having to deal with lightning channel liquidity management, and 3)assuming people are using the same mint , no more "can't find path" LN payment failures to deal with. Plus, ecash can be minted that is linked to someone's npub, and that is really powerful too.
