Glenn is a civil libertarian as well as a welfare statist (if not outright communist) These positions are contradictory, hence his confusion as one group of fellow travelers suddenly abandons him It's understandable, though, because the welfare statists (and communists) in the US have long loudly insisted that they are the true liberals
