What’s the block clock drama?
I think someone said the blockclock made a racist remark when price hit $88,888 USD
Does it make remarks?
I don’t know. But that would be remarkable.

Okay so TL;DR Coinkite makes blockclock mini and sells it for $400, closed source @djuri makes a similar DIY device that is fully open source named BTClock They get harassed at launch by Coinkite It goes well for a while, then Coinkite takes down their Github by claiming trademark infringement because BTClock is too similar to Blockclock
😲
shouldnt that be fixed by github on nostr?
Mostly… self hosting also works and in the case of Git, I do not see any benefit for Nostr over self hosting as most projects have centralized leadership
what about discovery?
Discovery on Nostr is not a bad idea, though. And identity. It would solve having to create an account for each instance.
but you still need to ssh on each instance
git over HTTP and NIP-93 or whatever it was
Coinkite is leveraging gubment power to prevent an obvious knockoff competitor from succeeding. The knockoff and Coinkite are being douchey. Panties are twisted. Some are never going to buy a coldcard (again). Some recognize the legal right to do that. Others are discussing the trashy IP laws on the books. 🤷♂️
i want aware of it.. thanks for recap. IP laws shouldnt be discussed and/or forced in bitcoin hemisphere imo. gonna look into it
I tend to agree that IP laws are fiat minded nonsense and the enforcement thereof is anathema to the spirit of freedom that so many in the BTC space seem to pay homage to, but might not really espouse even if it is inconvenient.
i can clearly and with certainty say that bitcoin and ip law can not go hand in hand. no matter what you think of either side, it just doesnt fit. bitcoin's strength comes from not being guarded by any law but people. the law can not survive against people; ip laws can not survive against bitcoin you can only just play with ip laws against bitcoin while you can
seems nostr:nprofile1qqs9v9et20mnqagtgrnrc5qmzcrgmkt2y3087p23vawqlmyczlhfdcqpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7wq5uga sued the btcclock project someway. Btcclock trying to do a sort off blockclock, the clock from coinkite, but fully FOSS and buildable with generic hardware. Btcclock is mostly speech. nostr:nprofile1qqsw3znfr6vdnxrujezjrhlkqqjlvpcqx79ys7gcph9mkjjsy7zsgygpr9mhxue69uhhqatjv9mxjerp9ehx7um5wghxcctwvsq3samnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwdehhxarjd93kztnrdaksz9thwden5te0wfjkccte9ekk7um5wgh8qatz7tvu4p is still silent about this, and this is in my opinion the worst part.
Coinkite is trying to copyright "a device that displays information"
ffs again?
