Alright, help me. I know Samsung does not have a great reputation for digital privacy
 What is the current status of that? Are they still a lot worse for privacy minded people than a Google Pixel?

Asking because I am being severely tempted to trade in my Pixel 8 for an S24 because the first party features and customization look incredible.

I want to check my assumptions.

 None of the two are acceptable. You are lucky that have a Pixel. Stick GrapheneOS on it and you have one of the most private systems possible. Then learn how to use that apps and download them in a privacy conscious way.  

 100% stick with GrapheneOS and your Pixel. If anything, convert your family to use Pixels and lets grow the love!
