 Light!
Very true! No light, nothing to photograph
To be taken at the precise instant to show something interesting and at the same time to show it in a beautiful way, mostly through composition.
Love it. The question then becomes, why is that thing interesting in the first place? What defines beautiful as opposed to something that isn’t?
Well, those are subjective matters I am afraid 😁
Hmm not so sure about that. I think there’s something to be found in this discussion. Plato talks about the good, the true and the beautiful. He said that “the beautiful is easy to discern”. So perhaps there are elements and patterns to beauty and even good design. But yes, there is a degree of subjectivity
Yeah you are right the good and the true and the beautiful are real. But still we don't appreciate them all the same way that's the subjective part. I think most of the times isn't easy to discern, it needs a lot of time and training. 😁
Agreed: time and training. They say time is the greatest teacher, but it kills all of its students.
beauty is in the eye of the beholder
It has to conjure up a story in the mind of the viewer
What a true artist can do
When your instant reaction is you ‘felt’ something. I think that is what all art is supposed to do.
 Completely agree. Transcend words
I think that it needs to make people feel something.

A photograph can be technically perfect, but if it does not have an impact on the viewer it is reduced to simple informations.
Reducing down to its simplicity is best. Clarity over complexity
Evoking a feeling, a mood , mostly. Sometimes just beauty through composition.
 Beauty via composition; love it
