I made the switch from Mac to Linux a few months back. Bought my first Mac in *cough* 1991. So, it’s been a long run.
I’m a nerd, which makes it easier, but even that aside, it’s a lot smoother than it used to be. I’m very happy to have made the switch.

I don’t suffer from a lack of knowledge or technical skills.
My only weakness is laziness, I’m not prepared to make my life harder for principles that are not uber strong.
And as I said, I already use an Android phone and a StarLabs laptop, just not as my daily driver.
Also technically macOS's core operating system is Darwin, which is based on the XNU kernel and BSD, inherited from NeXTSTEP.
