Significant #earthquake of magnitude 5.0 reported 86 km east of #Namie, Japan

"#Japan was shaken near Namie, Futaba-gun, #Fukushima by an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 37 minutes ago, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported. 

"The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Namie, Futaba-gun, Fukushima, Japan, in the morning on Thursday, October 5th, 2023, at 10:40 am local time. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data."
