I wish that were so, but I found this out on an alt/nerd site years ago. Brave, and similarly DuckDuckGo, have always been total bullshit.

I noticed a change about a month ago in Brave that wasn't there before where it started showing images and linking to Google (not a super tekkie here) so I assumed it was recent.

 I guess they were always stalking...
