I have a computer, now. Like, a real one. It's... geez. Never had such a nice computer.🙈 https://i.nostr.build/9PSOPCeqIJGuhAaA.jpg
I made an unboxing video, for the lulz, but then I realized that I'm sitting on my bed in my nightgown and you can see me in the screen and it was like whoa TMI nevermind. So, here's a fuzzy still. 😂
Ohh sadge, i like unboxing video. I'm thinking of buying a thinkpad 🤔 Maybe a used one
It feels so nice. 😂 Like a new car. Carbon.
I haven't even tried to turn it on, yet. Just excited to carry it around and rub it like a magic lamp. 🤣🤣
what will your 3 wishes be
Wikifreedia, Highlighter, and Coracle. Simultaneously. Works. No lag, at all.
But Wikifreedia is annoying to log into, with everything getting shifted off the bottom of the screen because of the Categories at the top.
i want to check Wikifreedia and Highlighter these out. a friend wants to make a "Zine" so I'm looking for platforms that might work.
Which model is ?
X1?
X1 Carbon with i7 core
shiny new tech is a nice feeling
🫂
i am getting a nice 144hz 15,6" IPS display today... i decided it would help my workflow a lot to put all the "fun" stuff on it and let me use the whole of my two 2k displays for work... looking forward to playing games on it because this video card will almost max out on the framerate, and it will be nice and bright for videos maybe later on will be fun to try and make a 2d GUI that maxes out the 144 frames per second too oh yeah, you would not have loved my lenovo ideapad 3 tho endless hassles with the USB... adequate otherwise but that's a real deal breaker for me with my mech keyboard
Aw, too bad you noticed... I coulda bolstered my "Dev Gal Pinup" collection...😜😆😂🤣🥰💜🫂💖😁
imagining the fuzzyness
Good for you! You must really feel the difference
I'm afraid to turn it on. Just keep walking around with it, like a housepet. 🤦🏻♀️
I can see from the red nipple that it's a real computer. Congrats!
Thank you, @. I will build cool stuff with it. 🙏🏻 First thing I do, I run Primal and Docker simultaneously. 😂
If you are into GNU/Linux, Fedora runs really well on ThinkPads in my experience.
looks like my T420 which is a beast under the hood. Good thing is, no one will bother stealing it because it looks so "old"
Good thinkpads, they are awesome, I have an old x230 that is amazing
Yeah, this is Gen 6. The carbon is 🔥
I've had mine for 6 years. The speakers are terrible, but other than that it will probably last me another 10 years. Try playing some video games though just to see if it overheats. Tuxkart is a good candidate. I had to repaste my CPU because they over pasted it at the factory and it overheated easily. A little liquid metal paste and I can game on it now. Not that I do, but I could if I wanted.
I don't play computer games. 🤷♀️
The only point of the exercise is to test if it has thermal issues. Can be a problem if you are crunching prime numbers as well 😃
Okay, finally got the courage to login and tackle the American keyboard. Written from my new computer. 😊 Runs so smooth. Yes, even Primal.
X1 Carbons have a really good feel. Gen 10 could be order pre-loaded with Linux, but not Gen 11. Can Gen 12 be order w/Linux?
Is that red dot 🔴 on the B something special? Reminds me of my old computer from years ago.
it's a mouse trackball. it's a signature button on the ibm thinkpad / lenovo thinkpad.
Thanks 🙏 friend. My well seasoned self couldn’t remember. Brain fried a bit 🤣🙏🫂
