We only let our kids use the YouTube Kids app. You can set it for their appropriate age range. I’ve never seen an ad on it, but my son said he has seen a toy ad before. Might have just been part of the video he was watching. But nothing like the regular YouTube app. Definitely recommend it for kids.

 Yea it’s been great. In addition to the age settings, you can also block entire channels if they annoy you, and you can disable search to further limit what shows up. 

 Yeah. We have it set for our kids (8,6,4,2) to only be able to watch approved shows. Really makes a difference as when they occasionally watch something on the tv at least we have some parameters.
