 @Cat poni, Whorseman of Apocalypse Except the very upper scale ones like those you see in Monte-Carlo, casinos are mostly such incredibly depressing places. Especially in a town like Blacksburg, they aren't playing fun games like poker, blackjack or even the roulette.

I don't even know if casino is the proper word, it's a place where you can gamble in slot machines or play air hockey

 @6645941f yeah, we call them "herna", like a gaming place, or more like gambling place, more or less, you usually find them in poor towns and they often are 24/7 while there are no groceries past 8 pm, they don't really serve much other purpose than extract money from poor people, but their lobbyists are smart people so they made them operate in a tax regime where a large part of the tax goes directly to the municipality that allowed them, giving towns huge incentive to have them

 @Cat poni, Whorseman of Apocalypse To extract money from older poor people, for younger victims there's an even more evil industry, the "online casinos". At least physical casinos force you to get out of your home and maybe talk to people.
