 That's beautiful! With the right wood, people are willing to pay more than $100 for a nice hand made cutting board like that. If he wants to go that route, he's ahead of the game. 
 I’ll share this with him. He doesn’t have the tools outside of his class but it’s a good point. 

He also did welding last semester and he liked it as well. 
 If there's a local shop, of any sort, he could strike a deal with the owner. Use of tools in exchange for work, or just cleaning up.
