Cuttin off the streets is also stupid. Why do they do that? to get the attention of people who are already late for work and can´t be bothered to listen to quotes from Das Kapital.
it's way worse than that; they utterly paralyze the country. These protests are huge, thousands and thousands of people cutting out all the key entry/exit points to the city. Very often cutting off the train tracks. They are useless scam, but they are incredibly well-organized and know exactly where to choke production.
What I wrote was an understatement, my apologies. It must be incredibly frustrating for argentinians, but hopefully these people will come to their senses (unlikely though).

Agreed that they are leaches but this is actually bad for freedom of protest. It creates a precedent to make right to protest more “permissioned”, any human rights lawyer will say.
I’m all for freedoms, but this “piquetes” got out of hand for over 20 years. Protesting is still legal.

Of course they are not the same, but that’s beside the point. Just like with bitcoin, we don’t allow any central party to determine which transactions are accepted or not. We cannot have a central party dictating which protest are okay which ones are not

Occupy Wall Street, Trucker convoy,… many VERY LEGITIMATE protests had an impact because they STOPPED society from functioning in order to address an important area of concern. By blocking roads. As much as we hate the commies we should respect their right to protest, so that we can use the same right when they trample over our rights again. Banning roads is a slippery slope that will lead to authoritarianism.
They've been blocking the roads and all access to the city for literally decades demanding handouts and toppling any government that doesn't comply. A newspaper prints something they don't like? They will literally do a piquete in front of the printing centers and stop distribution. This is not a spontaneous manifestation, this is akin to an internal army extorting a kidnapped population for decades.
