This decision has not been easy, as it brings both personal and societal challenges. In a time when acceptance and understanding of transgender individuals are increasing, there are still setbacks and attacks on our community. In Bremerhaven, the situation is particularly concerning. Evangelical buildings are regularly targeted with rotten eggs, which not only represents a form of vandalism but also serves as a sign of the intolerance that still exists in parts of society. I have already encountered this problem in Moordorf, where similar incidents occurred. The attacks are not only aimed at causing material damage but also seek to spread fear and insecurity within the community. As a transgender pastor, I often find myself subjected to such attacks. The combination of my religious role and my identity makes me a target for those who harbor prejudices. It is painful to see how intolerance and hatred take root in our society, especially in an environment that should stand for love and acceptance. However, a strong presence in the community can help deter the perpetrators. In Moordorf, we experienced that a visible and engaged community standing against such attacks can work wonders. Through joint events, educational efforts, and making support visible, we were able to send a message and reduce the attacks. It is important that we stand together as a community and support one another to create a safe and respectful environment for all. The challenges we face are significant, but I am confident that through solidarity and commitment, we can bring about positive change. It is time for us to advocate for a society where every person, regardless of their identity, can live in peace.
