PoW Centralisation: What Size War Chest Is Required? "Although the problem is currently manifesting itself on the network to an extreme extent, this variance smoothing issue does not appear to be as much of a long term fundamental incentive problem as some may think...Perhaps another reason for this alarming degree of centralisation right now is that many in the mining industry simply don’t care enough." https://www.nobsbitcoin.com/pow-centralisation-what-size-war-chest-is-required/
Abandon Replace SHA256D ASIC - thats it
Algo REPLACEMENT ASIC-resistant
been there done that asic resistance leads to even worse cheating with FPGAs, hidden ASICs, and eventually algorithm changes which means cantillon effect. Bitcoin really doesn't want to have to change algorithm it's a nuclear option that'll result is many contentious forks.
The analysis doesn’t attempt to quantify the potential impact of mining pools being attacked, which could significantly affect the statistical calculations of required reserves (their analysis is likely understating the required reserves). Would be interesting to see this accounted for in additional analysis.
