@0bffc20c Meta owns Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. Meta started Threads to join in the Fediverse, but nobody wants to Federate with them for reasons like this. There's also the fear of data collection, but the whole point behind community moderation is that poorly moderated instances are defederated so that their lack of moderation doesn't threaten the rest of the network.
