Don't know yet, but off the top of my head, you can tip wait staff by searching their username in mutiny wallet.
I've spoken to the Dev about this. There is a bootstrapped messaging function, it likely uses the npub on the backend. I like the idea that it's kind of a "placeholder" for future features and integration with Nostr.
