What would you ameliorate?
Someone you actually know sends you this invite. A person that you already have communicating lines with, to check whether this is real or not. The whole point is that you wouldn't get this from a stranger. 
And even if it is a total stranger, he's still giving you real money that you can directly go and spend for real things 👉  no better way to check.
