The local watering hole is going to do a pumpkin carving contest. Because if you give people knives and slippery gourds to go with their alcoholic beverages, you know everybody will have a good time. But that's not my point.
There's a new paypal phishing scam on the street. Automated call comes in, "this is fraud unit, we've detected password change, press 1 if not you." Then "we are texting you authorization code, please enter it now." They call a half-dozen times in the hope you give up, press 1, then enter the code. You can safely block the number, but they will call the next day with another fake caller id.
Made it to Bangalore. Took forever to get my oversized luggage. Customs official asked me what was in this mountain of luggage, I said Gandhi pictures printed on wood and she laughed and waved me through. No duty on Gandhi!
Car arrives at noon tomorrow, flight is wheels up at 5pm. My usual carry-on of a small wheelie and laptop bag joined by 3 oversize 60-pound pieces of checked luggage containing 24x36" blocks of wood with Gandhi images on them, 1000 Gandhi postcards, yards of Gandhi cloth. I have prepared an inventory for customs in case there is a special duty on Gandhi, which would of course be totally appropriate.
