The DeFi "experiments" and "games" from circa 2020 seem like they are bring added at the protocol level of new and networks.

 Popular-Culture used to emerge from shared TV shows that most people, in certain parts of the world, watched — usually at the same time of the same day!

This still happens to some degree — but it is not the same as before, when you could only watch a (new) TV show episode at a specific time on a specific day.

Today Popular-Culture often emerges due to (Internet) memes.
