Definitely agree with the kid. If someone came up and smashed my phone I would accept the phone they are giving me, call the police, and then sell said phone to replace my android.  

 This is also a good way to deal with the problem. I just dont want them contacting the police about the pistol whipping and their stolen phone. 

 They simply don't want things to be decentralized. Companies only get as big as they do in collusion with the centralized government.
