25 years ago today, the late Chi Chi Rodriguez won the 13th of his 22 victories on PGA TOUR Champions at the Crestar Classic.
Between the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions, Rodriguez amassed 30 wins and 102 top-3 finishes.
At age 37 he made the 1973 United States Ryder Cup team under captain Jackie Burke, Jr. The U.S. team won by a score of 19 to 13 points.
He holds two PGA TOUR Champions records that still stand today.
• He won four consecutive times
• He once made eight consecutive birdies.
His 22 PGA TOUR Champions wins are tied for seventh most all-time.
In 1992, Chi Chi became the first Puerto Rican inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
