I love grapheneOS its awesome and Pixels were some of the best phones I had... except all of them have broken screens - maybe I am just unlucky but cheap Xiaomi/Motorola doesnt shatter due to no reason. Also Pixel is from Google and we need to #destroygoogle
Not really except that one panel I put on my car.
I am look for tutorials on using PV(T?) as roofing though.
I hope to start building fully offgrid small cabin/house by next summer.
there was/is some small neigbourhood pilot project (state sponsored IIRC) in germany that uses panels as defacto roofing so it is possible.
That idea comes from neccessity, I want to optimize both angle and size for winter. Yes it will generate less overall but with oversized installation summer is over kill anyway.
Hmm.. I am fully against any (involuntary) surveillance, but from skimming this briefing it seems it would unify to what extend governments across EU can spy on their journalists/whoever and defines situation in the law (which isnt the case everywhere) I think thats preferable situation to greyish and complicated ways that different laws can be now applied in members states.
I used to be running Mailpile it was pretty good https://www.mailpile.is/
> The core of Mailpile is a fast search engine, custom written to deal with large volumes of e-mail on consumer hardware. The search engine allows e-mail to be organized using tags (similar to GMail's labels) and the application can be configured to automatically tag incoming mail either based on static rules or bayesian classifiers.
If you read the letter the EU Parliment references SUVs ... we don't have SUV in EU as registration category. Seems like they watched too much american youtube videos on the topic :D
Well killing SUV trend is noble cause, but I think the solution is in the source of the problem: per regulation - bigger car can pollute more - lets make absolute BUT REALISTIC limit of pollution per distance/engine hours and decrease them every few years. Another problem I think is that developing a new car is very expensive now (or actually, car companies just got cheap and greedy) which hinders innovation but more importantly diversity on the market. You cannot buy a small city car if 90% of new available cars are SUV-like.
#android #google #apple
Yey look! Google is promoting open standard that is used for intercorponation communication!
https://www.android.com/get-the-message/
RCS is supposed to be implemented by each network operator so presumably it won't be another iMessage situation... but!
Also google:
> RCS, though, can enable end-to-end encryption – and RCS conversations are end-to-end encrypted between Messages by Google users.
Just wait till **not** E2E messages will be marked dangerous AND SCARY by android **default** Messages (by Google but it doesnt say it in the name) application.
That is not all! Guess what:
> [... ]T-Mobile announced today that its RCS offering is now powered by Google’s Jibe platform.
>
> Carriers can either have Google power the RCS backend/servers or use their own infrastructure. T-Mobile did both depending on the Android device:

Just... I can't... #destroygoogle anyone?
TBH most of my friends don't use FB/Instagram/Whatever in the intended way mostly for sharing "stories" which I think is now replacement for something like short status text that used to be in messaging apps. I would say insta/fb stories/bereal.
The problem is also that this is integrated into main communication app which is Messenger for most of people. There is little hope to replace something with such network effect as it.
I was using filebrowser for few years and it is decent and very usable. Not a lot of features but I think that is a good thing. What I love about it is that it just works on regular plain files and directories - everything can interface with that. can recommend would run again
Semi related rant about owntracks:
I hate that everything has to be a server now hosted somewhere. Nothing is offline-first.
Why can’t my phone just record my location into daily/hourly .gpx file which get synchronized whatever way I want (dropbox/syncthing/rsync/OneDrive) and then when I open the frontend app it would just parse the files and show them on the map?
