@Karen Strickholm On Mastodon I follow a number of them, some of which cite others. "ua news" is one; "Aure Free Press" is another--RFE/RL is excellent (Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, in longhand). Unfortunately Joerg Fliege remains stuck in Diaspora via Glasswings. I'll look into making a list of them and post.

One of the people on Diaspora that was reliable on Ukraine news is Isaac Kuo but he hasn't been posting about it when I check, so he's one that's still around over there. As for the others, you betcha!
I went a-slummin' over at the Diaspora end of the fediverse just to see if I could pick up on Ukraine news from a couple of sources I knew were over there and mostly what I found was a long string of testingonly shitposts. Yeah, that's what I call "slummin'" alright...but...the news I was pursuing was because of the news I found at the Friendica-Mastadon end of the fediverse, and I'll sum it up this way:
Remember all those Bradley tanks the U.S. sent 'em on the slow boat? They're trickling in NOW, and it's at the same time Ukraine has developed a smart torpedo of sorts. They're calling it an underwater drone, tho...AND! I saw a report where Ukraine has FINALLY broken through the main line of Russian defense, and that was a long time coming.
However, sources that used to be reliable on Diaspora seem to have disappeared altogether. I'm guessing they finally saw sense in going elsewhere in the fediverse and I have to just run into 'em again.
