“These responses were errors that were delivered a small number of times, and quickly fixed when brought to our attention,” Amazon spokeswoman Lauren Raemhild said in a statement.
Now if only every error could be brought to their attention then everything would be fine.
@09f4fd86 Oh ya, it's coming. But I'm not complaining about this current heat wave we are in. This weekend will definitely be the nicest weekend we will see for the next six months or so.
@09f4fd86 Getting one last blast of Summer here in the PNW. Only got down to low 60s last night and will be high 80s today. I slept with the window open all night.
@e4c4b441 I don't have a dog in this fight, but I understand the sentiment. Our big rivalry game is next weekend. It will be a top-10 match up. And we here in Oregon absolutely hate the Washington Huskies. At least when it comes to sportsball.
Autumn is such a nice and chill cat. When she's not taking care of her babies she is hanging out with me while I'm at the computer. Adopting black cats can sometimes take a while because people tend to prefer colorful cats. But I think Autumn's personality is going to win someone over real fast.

@68db884e Agreed. I still have a subscription which comes every other month, but it is 99.99% old, recycled content. MAD was a big influence in my childhood, so I just can't let it go yet.
@c6ce34be I once posted a very similar picture of one of my very young foster kittens to IG and joked that she had been born without any bones. You wouldn't believe how many people thought I was serious. I told them it was Boneitis, thinking that would be a big enough hint that I was joking. It didn't help. Apparently I'm the only one who watched Futurama.
@1e8ded32 Agreed, Firefox is the only one who is trimming the string.
The ironic thing regarding the web page I was testing is that aria-label isn't needed at all on these links because the images all had appropriate alt text for the links.
Thanks for taking my quiz.
Accessibility quiz. What is the accessible name for the anchor element in the following HTML?
<a href="#" aria-label=" "><img src="http://placekitten.com/200/300" alt="Kitten"></a>
Note: The value of aria-label is not an empty string, it has a space.
Feel free to use my codepen to check your answer. I'd suggest you use both Chrome and Firefox. I don't have Safari, so I'd be interested to know what it thinks.

P.S. Yes, I did encounter this code today.

@d6a8ebe6 Oh ya, in the next few weeks they are going to transition from the sweetest little puff balls ever to fury little devils who like to use daddy's leg as a cat scratching post.
And of course I'll love it.
@bb052609 I almost cut-off my left index finger a few months ago. They were able to save it but I have no feeling in it at the moment. I can't believe how much it is affecting me right now. Don't take your digits for granted!
@ac60eec8 Ahh, I didn't realize that mom is around. Ya, they will learn from her. Cat Attract is basically a cat nip powder you can sprinkle on the litter. They also sell litter with it included.
@ac60eec8 It takes time. Especially if they don't have a trained cat they can learn from. You can put "Cat Attract" in there. Maybe try a different type of litter if they don't seem to like it. But really, just keep putting them in there when you think they need to go. Eventually they will figure it out.
The bugs you find when doing accessibility testing.
<input type="radio" id="mc">
<label for="mc"><code>Console.Write</code> prints output on new line</label>
Firefox 117 (current): Dev tools erroneously shows accessible name on input as only "prints output on new line"
Firefox 118 (version in waiting): Dev tools correctly shows accessible name on input as "Console.Write prints output on new line"
Wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't testing with a screen reader.

@9e9deb18 I've always wondered how people can chat so much and pay attention to the presentation at the same time? If I'm at a presentation in person then I'm devoting my full attention to the speaker, not "chatting" with other people. But I'm an older dude so maybe my brain just can't handle that much multi-tasking any more. Personally, I tend to just hide the chat completely for all of the reasons you outlined.
Unless of course I want to make a joke. Then you all will read it!
@e38395b8 She is actually one of the sweetest mom cats we've ever had. But ya, she needs a break every once in a while. She is starting to leave the nest a little more often. She was out snuggling in my lap for a good 15-20 minutes last night while I was watching TV.
One of my favorite things to do when stumbling upon a web page that uses an accessibility overlay is to use the overlay to increase the font size. I'm giving a 99.9% guarantee that this will cause the formatting on the page to break at some point. Couple that with increasing the line height and the letter spacing and you get a 100% return on your investment. Probably need to install a second overlay to fix this problem.

My foster kitties Blaze and Ash went back to their original foster home over the past weekend to reunite with their three siblings. This was always the plan. My job was just to give them extra special around the clock care until their eating improved and they started gaining weight. The first 3-4 days were a struggle, but the last 2 went very well. In the end they each gained about 100 grams and are eating on their own now. Mission accomplished.

Blaze, after a good meal this morning. Underneath that striped cloth is a warm heating pad.
He's not making as much progress as I would like. He currently is having diarrhea, which is keeping him from gaining much weight. But he does seem to be more interested in food lately, which is a good sign.

@e4c4b441 Agreed one hundred percent. Unfortunately, my wife and I learned the hard way on our recent trip to Europe that covid is still a thing.
Actually, we already knew that, we just got lazy.
@07e2d0cd The cat shelter does have an ultrasound machine now but they didn't use it on her during intake yesterday, so I have no idea. Personally, I like to be surprised, so I'm happy not knowing.
Please welcome our new pregnant foster cat Autumn. She's probably at least a few weeks out. She is super friendly. We just got her yesterday and she slept on the bed with us the entire night. The last time we had an all black pregnant cat we got several tabbies, a couple of lynx points, and only one all black kitten. So don't judge a book by it's cover. You never know what's inside.

@2d9a6032 Most developers don't test reflow with text zoom only. WCAG doesn't require it either (page zoom is sufficient). It's a combination of lack of education and laziness.
1/ @1e8ded32 From the aria 1.2 specs for name computation:
C. Otherwise, if computing a name, and if the current node has an aria-label attribute **whose value is not the empty string, nor, when trimmed of white space, is not the empty string**:
- If traversal of the current node is due to recursion and the current node is an embedded control as defined in step 2E, ignore aria-label and skip to rule 2E.
- Otherwise, return the value of aria-label.
