Some more beautiful Glasgow tenement tiles, and so many different shades of green. These are from a close in Broomhill.

I love this bird tucked away round the back of the Renfield Saint Stephen's Church on Bath Street. I wonder how many people pass it every day as they walk along Holland Street and don't even realise it's there.

In 1974, this man, Prof. Graham Teasdale, gave the world the Glasgow Coma Scale, which is used by doctors around the world to measure levels of consciousness. It's a bit of a weird thing to have named after your home city, but it's much better than Bristol, birthplace of the Bristol Stool Chart!

This is a fact I learned this weekend, thanks to the Glasgow Doors Open Day Festival and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

The North Claremont Street facade of Royal Crescent in the west end of Glasgow. Designed by Alexander Taylor and build in the 1830s and 40s, this is the terminal pavilion of a terrace of classical style Georgian townhouses. When it catches the early morning sun, this is my favourite view of these buildings.

You come across some weird things in the back lanes of Glasgow, but I never expected to find Tigger locked up in jail. Mind you, there was always something a bit dodgy about him - he was just too damn happy all the time!

The statue of Dolores Ibarruri (born 1895 died 1989) on Clyde Street in Glasgow. Also know as La Pasionaria, she was a hero of the Spanish Civil war. The statue commemorates the 2,100 British members of the International Bridage who joined the struggle against fascism in the late 1930s. Ibarruri is the only non-British woman to be honoured with a statue in Glasgow.

The former Blind Asylum on Castle Street in Glasgow. It was designed by William Landless in a Free Revivalist style and constructed in the 1880s. The Glasgow Blind Asylum was founded in 1804 to provide education and training to blind peope so they could earn an independent living. This included training them to be musicians and teaching them trades.

The verdigris-covered dome and golden finials of Ocean Chambers on West George Street in Glasgow have a special place in my heart. They are one of the first architectural features I remember looking at in Glasgow when I was young and thinking 'Wow, that's amazing!'.

I love these Green Men carvings which are all over James Miller's 1904 Underground Station in Saint Enoch Square in Glasgow. They're one of those things which always makes me smile when I pass them.
