Eight years ago today, while on a trip to New Hampshire, I got myself out of bed on a cold morning and dragged myself down to Ammonoosuc Lake to capture this sunrise. It's extremely rare for me to be up at dawn, so was a memorable moment.

 Have I mentioned how awesome Newfoundland is? The East Coast Trail, which follows around the edge of the Avalon Peninsula, has some of my favorite hiking in the world. There's a new view around every corner, plus icebergs, puffins, whales, foxes... If you've never been, I highly recommend it.

 Today's waterfall is from the C&O canal in the distant and exotic land known as Maryland. Officially it's known at the "Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park" but everyone calls it "the Maryland side of Great Falls".

 Sibling rivalries can be so intense. These two curious foxes had a den near the #Bonavista lighthouse in #Newfoundland and were completely unbothered by the presence of people around them. I got to photograph them for hours!

 22 years ago today I took this shot of #Manarola in the #CinqueTerre in #Italy. It's special to me because it was the first photo I took where everything really seemed to click -- I liked it, other people liked it, and I think I've been chasing that feeling ever since. Thanks also to my friend @syncros@mastodon.social who always encouraged me in those early days.

 Sure, #Venice is jam packed full of tourists (where "tourist" is defined as any non-local who isn't me) and sweltering in the summer, but it's still sublime. I think this qualifies as "Venetian Gothic" style, but I'm not an architect or historian so let me know if that's wrong.
