The hunt begins ❗️ It rained again last night so the ground is wet 🌧️ The hybrid chickens 🐓 know it rained and are not interested in anything other than looking for worms 🪱 #Allotment #Today #GrowYourOwn #Gardening #Chickens

Two days running a fox has been a bit too close to the bantams outside run 🦊 We have chosen to cover the lower half of the front of the outside run with tarpaulin, the same as the side of the run. Just one more thing to keep them safe 👍 🐓 #Allotment #Today #GrowYourOwn #Gardening #Chickens

It never ceases to amaze us 🤓 We have near enough 200 square feet of composting bays 4 by 4x4x3 feet and we have filled each of them at least once this season ❗️ By next spring there’ll probably be one half of one bay of amazing compost 😊 #Allotment #Today #GrowYourOwn #Gardening

 nostr:npub10t7d6rxevuey2azqdahtl6846jfal9s6047su09cxktutpcc6wesvkatpe I’m always so fascinated ...
@12e2f193 Almost all of the beds (except the asparagius beds which gets well rotted manure) are topped up with the spent compost from the potato tubs. We rely on the worms to take this compost down over winter and supplement the beds with blood, fish and bone in the spring. The tubs we use for aubergines, cucumbers and potatoes get new compost each year.
Maybe repetitive, but essential 🤓 We have just finished preparing the second long bed in the greenhouse for the winter crops 😊 Remaining tomatoes 🍅 have been harvested and the bed topped up with spent compost 👍 We’ll let it settle for a couple of weeks before planting towards the end of this month #Allotment #Today #GrowYourOwn #Gardening
