Business Owners Remain Optimistic: Survey

PNC Financial Services Group Inc. conducted a survey revealing that 56% of small and mid-sized business owners are highly optimistic about the national economy, up from 55% last spring and significantly from 34% a year ago; 62% are optimistic about their local economy; global economic optimism remains at 39%; 76% are optimistic about their own business, consistent with previous measures of 79% and 77%; only 33% believe the U.S. economy has a major impact on their business; PNC Chief Economist Gus Faucher states that positive sentiment indicates solid economic fundamentals despite recession concerns; the survey is in its 22nd year.
