@24806fce You are not alone. Same feeling!
(and worst: on social media, with the link/URL previews, when it catches an AI art for the thumbnail of a blog post and print it on my timeline.)
XP-Pen sent me their new Artist Pro 16 (Gen2): they were curious if I could get it to work under Gnu/Linux without their proprietary driver.
Result: after a long evening of trial and error, tweaking Digimend/X11/xsetwacom, almost everything works now. 🎉
Of course, the deal is that if it works, I have to document it like I did with the Artist 24 Pro. So expect it soon™.
Btw, this one will stay on my desk: I had a serious crush on it while testing: super low latency & low parallax. 😍

My first attempt at recording when I'm sketching with a ballpoint pen. I couldn't say that I was relaxed enough when I started recording, as I had problems with video, focus, camera shake, light, saving the recording, resolution, etc. But it was a first test and I'm sharing it for curiosity. Goal: To record a drawing class and post it on my main channel.

@7ede54aa Oh yes. Very good work of documentation in this video. It feels really faithful to all what I experienced on the platform over the last 10 years. I really like how the video also celebrates what was accomplished, and how important it was, it underlined even more the last part, with the enshittification of the platform. I'm worry they'll be forced soon to rise their default 5% tax on the payout processing system for creators...
@866aea62 Good job on this one! I'm not familiar with the character, but you made a good job on the pose, especially the bust part: very difficult to manage a tilt of the head this way compare to the shoulder and here it works very well and it is expressive.
@f8908688 :blobcatheart: Thank you for doing that too!
The amount of abandonned pets (in France) boomed and was estimated 60 000 this summer, vet said. She told me ID of cat was now legally an obligation, and to abandon can be punished up to 2 years of prison and 30 000€.
@041cd8c8 Thanks! Yes, no idea how this one could be abandoned, because he looks so well domisticated (he is the type of cat to jump on knees, or roll on the feets to show belly, and has a anger for cuddle).
My three others started to let him exist around. Distance of 40cm is ok, they don't cuddle or sleep together. If they contact, they start to growl at him. Sometime a paw just hit without claws, he is not yet super adopted, but no drama. I hope this will improve.
@9637d415 :blobcatheart: ASCII art on a perforated line printer (directly connected to the keyboard, no monitor) was my favorite 'game' when my dad kept me at his work in the 80s. The tip of the printer was like a sting, very noisy, each characters felt engraved, in a sort of light-grey monospace courrier font. That was glorious.

@0ea10284@f7cfab70 Same! I hope I'll not have more, but I can't resist when one sleep outside in my garden and looks bad. If it continues, I'll have to build a little wooden garden house or officialy start a shelter. 😅
@8ba31bb8 🤣 🤣 🤣 That would have been the full experience.
I wonder now if someone had the audacity to fill a 'wish list' on LibreOffice tracker for a Clippy alternative. :troll:
(and I wonder if this person will be me 🙈 )
cat=$((cat+1)) 😺
I'm back from the vet this morning with an official adoption for Geuloush. He is a fully-grown male cat who has probably been abandoned by his former owners in the summer. 😡
We put notices around our house in search of them, but failed to get any feedback. The poor thing was starving and in bad shape. After a month of care, he is now loving and healthy. 💜 He'll be neutered soon. He is an exact copy of Miolek our number 3 and here is a photo of them:

@f196ca3c Hi! X11 is far to be ready for my workflow, color calibration might be soon for next 6 month or 1 year (in progress?) but many features are still missing. Wayland can't even calibrate the cursor under the pen tip (to avoid parralax) on this tablet, so not possible for me to make art under Wayland right now. 😔
@784e76eb Oh yes, especially compared to 20 years ago when flat panel were still super expensive. I remember my first Cintiq 12wx, with 1280x800px for 12 inch, super dark. Then my bulky super expensive 21UX. This large 24 inch has quad HD resolution (2560x1440px) and is not that thick. It makes me wonder how will look my desk in 20 years from now 🙂
@b46b432f It's the Sennheiser HD 599 , I took it in July because I had to change my very old one (even if I DIY a lot, but it was 10 years old and started to bug hard 😆). This one was praised in the reviews. I disliked it a lot at first opening: I was probably too used to listen to my music with my previous headphones. Bass/Treble changed and I wasn't used to it. Another con: when listening loudly, the room around can hear your music a bit. With time, I adapted to it but, yep, a bit meh.
@b46b432f No, it's not a tablet with touch support, only stylus. 🙂 And maybe it's a good thing because I'm not really liking the touch keyboards in general: I'm slow with them, miss click a lot on keys. I still feel them to be a good workaround on small pad/tablet or phone; but I wouldn't edit an article with a keyboard like that or code a new page for my website with that.
@f8908688
@3001abc7 In my backpack , it's my travel machine. It doesn't has enough power to make a Pepper&Carrot comic page or compiling an episode, but today I took it to Toulouse library and made a conf with it. Good little laptop.
@f8908688 On this setup, I type with the two forearms on the XpPenArtistPro24 display. It's 'ok' because it's not a super hot display tablet; but not 100% ideal. Still, I managed recently to make big morning of writing or code for the website in this position. When I have to do more keyboard intensive task for the full day; I just detach the keyboard, and push the display under the top one (and close it). Not ideal again, but so far, it works.
@e9ade9db 😬 Oh no. Poor thing! 😆
The surgery (expensive, unfortunately) will protect him; young 'whole male' cats are problematic in the city, for others and for themselves: they spread sexual diseases, fight and mark their territories (and get more scratches, sometimes loose ears, eyes, etc...) and make wild stray kittens. They rarely live more than 3 years.
The vet estimated this one to be 3 years old, in very good health. Rare to find a male like this. He'll be also tested for AID.
@3ed2baab Yes, I saw this one, good one! 😆
(I always try to search other webcomic strips within the theme my scenario is, so I can avoid to accidentally reinvent the wheel...)
