As you can see @thatbirdcamstr was trying to catch the aurora borealis the last two night unsuccessfully… oh well. Just finishing up my pot of coffee here, drying some peppermint and lemon balm leaves to store away and putting away some dried thyme and sage a co-worker who is also an amateur herbalist gave me. It’s supposed to be nice here today so possibly going to my family’s orchard later or maybe a park before podcasting tonight. Hello and welcome, glad you made it onto the freedom protocol. Remember one big rule to nostr, you are the algorithm, so it is what you make of it. My recommendations 1). Find some content that interests you using hashtags (grownostr is a good all around first one to look at, originally created to share non-Bitcoin related content)
2). Follow strangers that post cool content and reply to their posts
3). Post stuff that you like with corresponding hashtags
4). Once you get the hang of the platform or app you started nostr with, go test out some of the other cool apps that run on the nostr protocol, https://nostrapps.com has the best list of apps I’ve seen available… and if you have questions, make sure to ask them with the asknostr hashtag and I’m sure someone here will help or point you to the developer that can. You could setup a cheap server at home using either the startOS or UmbrelOS and just store the videos on that, and grant public access to the videos and share the individual links on nostr or any legacy platform you want… I think I spent $200 on my Umbrel setup building it myself and both Umbrel and Start OS are free to download and use
There is flare.pub, but you either have to have the files hosted on another server that you can share from (and I don’t believe it recognizes YouTube), or you pay them to host a very limited amount of video
Yeah it actually wasn’t hard… I used to make websites back in the 90s with html, and that’s about as technical as I get… I actually just went to the start9 website and looked in their forum on diy because I didn’t want to spend $500-1300 for one of their servers. There were steps and links to all the components available on Amazon and then after a little more research I actually found that I liked the amount of plugin and play program options that Umbrel had so I ended up just downloading and installing their operating system… took about 30 minutes to put it together and about that long to install Umbrel and from there I went
I just ignore the political angle of Bitcoin because both the left and right in the US really hate btc anyways even if now they are trying to suck up to coiners… hell a lot of our old decrepit senators still don’t understand how the internet works let alone any aspect of btc
But it is natural and up until Europeans took over the Americas, the native Americans cleared and fertilized the lands with wood ash from large wildfires that they would start to hunt with or to clear for agriculture… some of the earliest known reports of European explorers talk of the massive fires the natives would start and it was their native guides that would explain the fires to them
I understand what you are saying, but I still don’t like EVs because I hate being dependent on electricity… in a world where solar energy is easy and abundant everywhere and wind generated energy is easy and cheap to tap into… sure, but that is definitely not the case in a lot of areas especially in northern regions where there are quite often weather related power outages, lack of sunlight for weeks and wind is not an easily harnessed resource… but you are also forgetting that ethanol can be produced at home and also biodiesel vehicles exist… also wood alcohol vehicles have been made and used one of the guys on the Mountain Men show drove around for a couple seasons in a truck powered by wood alcohol… EVs have a long way to go in my opinion to be the best option.
