They each explain their views on Bitcoin—Pompliano makes the case for Bitcoin being a store of value that should be widely adopted and encouraged by the United States in order to stay competitive globally while Green asserts that Bitcoin is used primarily for nefarious activity and is mainly controlled by entities that are oppositional to the United States.
Green believes that Bitcoin is the perfect example of markets indicating that something is incredibly successful, even when in actuality it is failing (or will fail), and that its price appreciation does mean that it is a robust system. Filmed on February 1, 2021.
Key Learnings: Pompliano believes that there are many non-trivial indicators that suggest Bitcoin is robust and becoming widely adopted including the number of wallets, transactions, and hash rate. He believes there is a significant chance that Bitcoin will be adopted by a significant amount of the S&P 500 companies and nation-states. On the other hand, Green thinks it is extremely unlikely to see major adoption from the largest companies and nation-states, explaining that this could even harm the U.S. He believes that Bitcoin can be trivially attacked and taken down by a nation-state and that the system is not as secure as many people claim it to be.

In this video, I discuss the problems that arise if you try to avoid a sovereign debt crisis by "canceling" a country's debt.
For example, a T-bill is a liability of the US government, but it is an asset on your own balance sheet if you own it. Canceling government debt means wiping out assets on the balance sheets of individuals and families, corporations, pensions, and even nation-states and their central banks.
This is why it is most likely that the current enormous global debt load will be resolved through money printing and confiscation, rather than a debt jubilee.
Entitlements will be paid out in full. The US will government will not explicitly default on its debt. Everyone will get paid out as promised, but with US dollars that have much, much less purchasing power.
Keep only as much money in fiat as you are willing to lose.

In this video, I discuss how the US Senate has joined the House of Representatives and voted 60-38 in a bipartisan vote to pass a resolution, that overturns an old SEC accounting bulletin, that has made it prohibitively expensive for US banks and other financial institutions to custody Bitcoin and crypto.
That SEC bulletin has required firms to record customer holdings of Bitcoin or crypto as liabilities on their own balance sheets, thus basically deterring most large US financial institutions from becoming Bitcoin custodians.
If you actually want to protect consumers, then having most of the BTC for the spot BTC ETFs sitting at Coinbase Custody presents unacceptable single point of failure risks.
If Biden signs this bill into law, then many US financial institutions will get in the game of Bitcoin custody and help to mitigate these concentration risks.
As for me, I will continue to keep my BTC in my own personal bank in cold storage, using my Coldcard hardware wallet.

That SEC bulletin has required firms to record customer holdings of Bitcoin or crypto as liabilities on their own balance sheets, thus basically deterring most large US financial institutions from becoming Bitcoin custodians. If you actually want to protect consumers, then having most of the BTC for the spot BTC ETFs sitting at Coinbase Custody presents unacceptable single point of failure risks. If Biden signs this bill into law, then many US financial institutions will get in the game of Bitcoin custody and help to mitigate these concentration risks.
