We had our first ice storm and I’m getting into the winter spirit by knitting a Flax sweater but Tin Can Knits (free pattern). I’m using their (free) app to do it. Recommend! It sorts out the stitch counts based on size and yarn weight. Only has a few patterns available currently but they seem to be updating regularly. Due to my powdered-everything upbringing, I always leave chunks of potato in my mashed potatoes to “prove they’re real”. Probably the same reason I never serve scrambled eggs.
Been making boston baked beans in the oven all afternoon. The smell is making me ravenous. If they end up tasting like a can of Heinz, I’m gonna be furious. Happened to a mushroom gravy I made from scratch recently. Tasted exactly like a can of Campbell’s mushroom soup and I’m still not over it.

6 year old granddaughter is visiting. Just told me that accoustic guitars are probably the most romantic of guitars. She is playing with #GarageBand on an iPad.
Just finished a rewatch of season 1 of Dark Winds. Forgot how good it is! Excited to get started on season 2 . Noticed they did a bit of lip pointing which made me giggle though it was a little awkward and unbelievable, imo. My family does it more subtly with just a fraction of a second of lip, imperceptible to the uninitiated.

This story about a pair of RCMP officers entering a guy’s house while he was in the shower (to give him an old parking ticket??) sounds a lot like they really went in to rob the place and the ticket was their thinly veiled alibi in case he turned up. Cops are the largest organized crime operation in the world.

Looking at fashion mags. Who knew my circa 1980 tiny-floral-printed, puffy-sleeved, maxi-tiered Mormon church dress was going to be the hot look of fall 2023? Did not see this coming.
Now I'm watching the followup with responses to neurodivergent folks angry about the first video. As usual, I'm of two minds. As someone who has never been diagnosed with anything but is, nevertheless, a bit of a social misfit, I think it would help me to learn some social skills. Also tiring. What about you? Do you think we should all strive to adhere to social "norms"? If you are neurodivergent, is this sort of advice helpful or harmful?

@4c2af060 huh. So it does! I’ve never noticed any shimmer in my writing. Maybe I need a wider nib…or better glasses…lol. Anyway, I’ve been using it for a couple of years now. I’m on my second bottle. Never had trouble with it.
@4c2af060 I have Émeraude de Chivor and it works in all of my pens which include a Lamy Safari and a Lamy Studio. It doesn’t have sparkle in it though.
Reading an article called "Laugh Tracks" in the Sept/Oct issue of Poets and Writers and I highly recommend it to anyone using humour in their writing (imo, every story needs, at least, a sprinkling of humour). I'm learning so much! It includes this quote from Carl Sagan "Understanding is a kind of ecstasy"
