What are the best practices for managing multiple Nostr accounts?
What are the best practices for allowing an employee to control your account without giving them your nsec?
Let's discuss how the @BTCStudents is a game-changer for the #Bitcoin community to onboard university students worldwide and what you can do to help accelerate their work.
The @BTCStudents exists to connect students interested in learning about Bitcoin and contributing to the space.
It assists students across various universities in establishing Bitcoin Clubs, effectively onboarding more students from each institution.
If you look around, a lot of the major universities in the US and also worldwide have "blockchain clubs" with 10s of members. They attend or organize conferences and meetups, participate in research projects, contribute to open-source, teach extracurricular courses, etc.
Bitcoin is a rare topic for many of these clubs; they're interested in Web3, different EVM chains… The general thinking is that Bitcoin is archaic and innovation happens on other chains.
These kids are very smart though, and I don't think this situation is their fault.
They're just not as exposed to Bitcoin as they are to “blockchain.” I've spoken with several of these clubs, and it's evident that the interest exists, but the Bitcoin community is not doing enough outreach to universities.
Polygon, Solana, etc. offer research internships, jobs, funding...
I know these groups have foundations with a big budget for this kind of outreach, they have ambassador programs, they organize student hackathons with BIG prizes...
But we're not doing the bare minimum which is being there and talking with students. We could be doing more.
I'm super confident about how powerful these clubs can be. They've been very successful for these chains. Even some great Bitcoin developers, like Gloria Zhao, Jeremy Rubin, and Jonathan Harvey-Buschel were part of these clubs.
A great example that gave me even more confidence in the importance of these clubs was @BitPolito.
Started by 3 students almost four years ago, the Politecnico di Torino club now has more than 50 students. All focused on Bitcoin.
Last year I noticed more applicants to @summerofbitcoin solely from this Italian university than applicants from the whole US.
They have at least 12 members or former members working in open-source Bitcoin projects like Breez StratumV2 or Bitcoin companies.
The idea of the @BTCStudents Network, led by @21MMforthe21st and @arshmolu, is to connect existing and future clubs with the Bitcoin community/industry.
While numerous resources and opportunities abound, they often go unnoticed by many. BSN can help with that.
More students should know about @summerofbitcoin or @ChaincodeLabs's Bitcoin Scholarship.
But we should also create more opportunities to
onboard more students, from different majors, who want to contribute to Bitcoin.
BSN will help be the interface between us.
The BSN advisory board includes prominent investors, educators, recruiters and community leaders in Bitcoin that can help these kids connect with literally anyone in the Bitcoin space.
But YOU can also help!
- Connect with the students from a university nearby, organize a meetup there, and spend 2 hours giving a talk about Bitcoin. Identify the most enthusiastic kids and help them learn more. Connect them with BSN so they can start their clubs.
- You're a Bitcoiner AND a student reading this? Great! Start your club! @21MMforthe21st is starting @CornellBitcoin from scratch and documenting it. Emile and Salvatore have years of experience running @BitPolito. And other clubs are joining BSN!
- Own a Bitcoin company? Consider opening a few internship roles this summer! These kids want more than anything to start their careers. If not in Bitcoin, they'll seek opportunities elsewhere.
- Organizing a conference? How about giving away some tickets so BSN can distribute them to students?
- Dropping by a specific school? Check with BSN if there's already a club there. Clubs usually organize weekly/biweekly events and love to receive guests.
- Or maybe you want to donate/sponsor their efforts! Donations will help fund not only BSN, but all Bitcoin clubs that are part of it.
Clubs will be able to apply for funding their meetups, attending conferences/hackathons, buying books for their libraries, etc. Non-monetary resources are also welcome!
Bullish on Bitcoin Students Network!
