Do you have a illustration about what the local relay does at a high level. I'm trying to understand the apparent move to having local relays in clients?
The idea that code is protected free speech makes me laugh. The regime defines what free speech is, so they can just make it so code isn't included in that. They already do this with pretty much anything else related to "free speech" (which no one believes in anyway).
Hi, I'm new to Go, and I've been tinkering around with the go-nostr library.
I am having an issue with my subscriptions not ending (or I am not understanding out to manage my subscriptions)
For now I am just trying to print all the stored events and then exit. However it just hangs until the context times out.

Can't (or won't). Family is here. Plus where would I go that isn't a shithole? US is on it's way there for sure. But better to stay put and try to start an enclave or something.
Building something for nostr is hard. It might just be because I'm at the edge of my competence (currently). But it's an interesting challenge. I'm also using a language I have little experience with.
(Go for the curious)

Sylvester Stallone plays a bomb specialist, Sharon Stone plays a woman out for revenge. They both stalk eachother. Peak cringe. Also peak James Woods as the bad guy. 8/10.

Liam Neeson as a Scot trying to deal with a plot to get fucked (figuratively speaking) by the psychopathic henchman of a Nobel. It has duels and stuff.

Tom Selleck is a sniper basically from the west. Goes to Austraila to make some money, meets some crazy broad with big tits (played by Laura San Giacomo) and Australian Hans Gruber and things pretty much go down hill from there.
Personally I think this is because of too much individualism. However, I'm no expert on such things. I just feel this intuitively. I also have no perscriptions on how to change it. It's just the way things are now.
Most people cannot think. They outsource their thinking all the time to their percieved betters. It's been this way since the dawn of human civilization. Plus, humans are tribal by nature. We're social creatures who are part of communities. Maybe that's family or your town or whatever.
I can get behind the idea that as individuals we must invest ourselves completely in our communities, though.
#asknostr Not sure this is the write tag, but who here self-hosts AI models? If you do, which one would you recommend for image generation?
I have used Ollama, but as far as I can tell it does not support image generation.
Interestingly enough those things were all born from liberalism.

I have interacted with at least one person who seems cool, so it is not like it's been all bad—in fact, I wouldn't characterize it as "bad" at all. Just underwhelming.
At a high level I think the most offputting thing is that people on here are convinced it will just work out. Like magic. I'm not saying it won't, I don't know if it will.
#asknostr #introductions
Newbie here. I'm been using snort, and while it is a beautiful app and I have had a good experience, I am looking for a nostr app that is perhaps geared to a different kind of content. I'm thinking maybe more long form content and communities? Maybe a way to bookmark stuff I see?
Yea, I get that.
I currently don't think what I am looking for exists on the internet, or rather social media type platforms (or protocols) on the internet. I don't they are environments that attract the quality of people I would like to be around.
Sure, plenty:
- Kids dying of hunger.
- People living now believing the earth is flat.
- Libertarians
While I personally don't care for Tattoos and I prefer my women without them, it isn't a deal breaker for me at all.

#introductions Since I am new, I hope you don't mind if I continue to use the intro tag while I get familiar with this place.
A little about me.
- I like being prepared for stuff, I have a flashlight and everything.
- Developer (yes, another one I'm afraid)
- I recently found I like classical music (Zadok the Priest, amirite?)
- I am not a bitcoiner (or a shitcoiner or whatever)
What is NOSTRs best kept secret in terms of apps to use?
