I am making MASSIVE progress on CP/M stuff now. I was just successful in converting this ( https://archive.org/details/wordstar-v3.0 ) flux image from my S-100 computer haul to run on the Jonos!

I was lacking a feeling of confidence in my imaging of the S-100 disks before and had stalled on that. Now I'm MUCH happier with my workflow, so it might be time to tackle the hundreds of disks I have to see what is there...

@1875e69c They are single sided, but I believe they are proper 80 track for 3.5".

@Pawlicker 🐾😹 These early Sony 3.5" drives don't use a standard interface layout. I think it may be Shugart compatible but will require custom wiring an adapter cable. So this is not an easy thing to test. It does have a giant 50 pin floppy connector on the back I'm going to try with some 8in drives I have later though.

This computer is not booting from disks and is stumping me a bit more than I thought. This is a Jonos Escort, a *very* early 3.5" portable CP/M Z80 system, and from my understanding is not common. I've also never used a CP/M system, so I'm not quite sure if I'm at fault or it is just having an issue.

This has Sony OA-D32V drives in it, I roughly serviced the top drive and can see the disk moving. The system also trys to load disks but never finishes. Are there any gotchas for booting CP/M?

It ended up being the drives! I swapped in a known repaired drive from my HP 9121 and it worked first try!

I put some more time into the original drives after and was able to get both of them to read. I still need to do a proper teardown and deep clean on them, but at least I know they will work.

Either everyone else has finally realized mechanical calculators are the coolest computers, or Youtube is being unpredictable again.

I can't find a single reason this video would have taken off after so long.
