#WritersCoffeeClub Sept 25 - What keeps you striving concerning your writing goals?

I have stories in my head that I think would be interesting to other people so I want to get them out in the world.

Also: I always hope that if people like what I write, they might want to be friends with me. 

 Standing in a rather long line at Noah’s Bagels this morning, the man standing next to me asked what “shmear” meant. He wa not expecting an info-dump on the cognates and meanings of shmear in Yiddish and other Germanic languages, or a digression into Jewish culinary customs. And yet, that’s how I roll. (To be fair, it was a long line and people were glad of the entertainment.)

OK, this is going to be a multi-part post, because successful promotion (not necessarily claiming I'm successful) isn't ever just one thing. For context, I have 5 books out spread across 2 different small presses (one sff, one lesfic), and short stories in various anthologies or podcasts, plus some short fiction that I've made available for free. So not every promotion strategy applies to everything.
