If the current mainstream social networks continue to work the way they do, (you know how they work otherwise you wouldn't be here) nostr won't need to be appealing at all. All in all, clients still need to be encouraged to improve features and create new ones. I don't think nostr is gonna die in 10 years, I think it is just a slow burn. So let it burn!
If could guess which historical era the internet is compared to the real world I would say that the last 10 years was the medieval times, also known as the dark times. And I think we are beginning to leave that era.
I guess that one thing all clients and/or apps definitely need is a feature that allows the user to at least separate content by country or language. It's basically impossible to cultivate a very large community if language is a barrier. This should be a must imo.
