 On Safari Intelligent Tracking Prevention:
“first-party tracking cookies are shared with a large number of other domains immediately after being set. This sharing of identifiers among different trackers is meant to enhance their ability to track users across different sites. Limiting the amount of time that a cookie is set for will not be able to stop this sharing of information, thus proving ineffective in protecting user privacy.”

 Eddy Cue just testified under oath in the Google antitrust trial that Apple is not working on a competitor, so there’s the little matter of perjury and Cue going to jail. 

Regardless, it took Apple many many years make a decent Google Maps competitor, so don’t hold your breath.
