this is actually a really good idea to prevent one's face being recorded in public, at least if the few Youtube videos I've seen lately with a near-IR LED in them are any indication (and yes there have been a handful) ... it does still show up as visible light in recent instances I've seen.

 so after the magic smoke escaped my last 3.5" HDD enclosure, I scraped together a few bucks for a replacement

that package then got misdelievered, but it finally showed up this morning ... hopefully this will go more smoothly now?
