Now up on Substack, public post. Please share, sometimes we all need to hear it.

I got my kid a rock tumbler for their 5th birthday.
I explained what is was and how it worked, what was going to happen to turn the dull rocks into shiny jewels.
Bastian stared at the rocks for a long time. Very intently.
Then quietly said:
“When they’re shiny I’m gonna trade these jewels to a raven for friendship.”
May I formally present Mr. Calcifer Kenough Valente, aged 11 weeks.
His interests are: me, being on top of me at all times, riding on my shoulder like I am a steed, sleeping across my neck like a shawl, somehow apparating himself INSIDE a wall (still can’t figure out how) and having to be cut out, fighting birthday balloons, fighting wrapping paper, fighting ribbon, fighting baked goods, and snuggling.
Also his meow is all raspy like Rod Stewart. That is all.
