Hey @FOLD BITCOIN I sent you guys a support email recently, but I completely stopped getting spins with the recent UI update.
Anyway we could get someone to check on that?
They actually still stack decently over time, but they absolutely should’ve gone the other way, fewer spins with higher rewards. The way they did it felt like they got completely inflated.
You should be embarrassed if you actually believe the French govt has attacked and arrested the CEO of Telegram because they care about stopping scammers and criminals.
Seriously grow up. Stop believing total nonsense because it sounds pretty.
I don't think many either, this was definitely geared more toward Twitter and I did my "once every few days" post over there.
However, I thought it was worth posting here too just in case somebody needed some healthy ridicule for a stupidly obvious lie they are telling themselves. They should feel stupid and I didn't want to leave them out just because they might be on #nostr 😆
Everything they say, everything they do, and the history of the thousands of times they’ve done everything they can for this exact same reason.
To believe otherwise is to reject every ounce of common sense and have a 3rd grade level, govt approved, cartoonish understanding of history… no disrespect. But it’s not even slightly well hidden. All you have to do is not take them at their clearly dishonest word that makes no sense anyway, and make a cursory investigation, imo.
This is exactly why I could never justify making a serious investment in YouTube, and also why I have stopped spending any time or resources on Twitter too.
It always felt like an impossible gamble. It’s like building a house in a hurricane zone that you KNOW cannot survive a hurricane, and that there is no way to insure. Life might be great, but eventually, and inevitably, a hurricane WILL come and you are just going to lose it all.
It is literally slavery if something you invested years of your life and tens of thousands of hours into can be taken from you by someone else arbitrarily, unilaterally, without recourse, without difficulty, and without even the mildest of concern from the person who can basically destroy your social existence and livelihood.
Everything is ultimately worthless if we don’t have freedom. nostr:note1u2qh3ns7ucnultwhd5h553psy404wn60jthadhgt7dfr934vs00qawypln
lol, of course.
“Conspiracy to enable child trafficking” will be the charge, as if the child rapists that permeate all govt actually want that to stop.
Creepiness is almost entirely a consequence of dishonesty, imo.
If a woman says she likes Taylor Swift, and then a guy says, “Oh yeah, I love Swift too!”, but he’s clearly full of shit, that’s creepy AF. Tons of guys think they have to lie and manipulate to get women to like them, and that’s very often what makes them creepy. They don’t know how to actually be honest and confident… but then their consistent failure makes them even more insecure, which only spirals the problem in the wrong direction.
> physically and emotionally ground down.
• Why is the marriage the source here? Everyone gets exhausted by their situation sometimes, but if someone says their marriage caused this, my assumption would simply be that their relationship may be unhealthy for some reason. But that isn’t a problem of marriage, that’s just what happens to unhealthy relationships of all kinds.
> underemployed or in dead-end jobs.
• Similarly, how is this the effect of marriage? I’ve never known any situation where someone married with a bad job was unable to fix it until they got divorced, then suddenly their job opportunities exploded, or vice versa.
> physical freedom is curtailed and social life is policed.
Also, in what way does marriage relate to this? Are you suggesting that without a marriage couldn’t be a problem?
My take, and I hope this isn’t taken as disrespect, is that you have misunderstood the source of the problem. A normal relationship and a marriage are functionally no different at all. Getting married or divorced will neither fix nor create problems, unless the problem is *the relationship.* Marriage is a label, it doesn’t even exist. It’s like saying you live in “a house” vs living in “a home.” It’s the same building either way. If your house is rotting, calling it a home won’t fix it.
If you were asking for thoughts and opinions, what you describe just sounds like an unhealthy relationship, but whether it’s label a “marriage” or not makes no difference. If the relationship, and job situation, and social life have problems, “marriage” isn’t going to make it better or worse or even meaningfully change it. Only the person themselves and/or their partner’s choices and behavior are what create those problems.
In my thinking, those responsibilities are tied to having a family, not a consequence of marriage per se. In that context I would certainly agree that having more responsibilities means “carrying a heavier load.” But the partnership of a marriage is meant to lighten it, not weigh it down further.
In my personal opinion having a family is well worth all of that, especially looking toward the future. My framing has always been thinking about what I want to have when I’m 70. Responsibility today means a big family when I’m older where I can finally let a lot of that weight off and I won’t be alone and wishing I had made different choices or cared too much about what my job had been. Basically it seems to me like choice between living without responsibility today, and being alone without options in 30 years. Or carry those responsibilities now, and be vastly better off and have a supportive family in 30 years.
The piss poor situation today I think stems from a failure of our money and culture (which also kind of follow from each other actually). It might seem hopeless, but that’s because the larger systems that demoralize entire generations are extremely hard to both see or control. So it feels like an inevitable reality, when it is actually a definable breakdown of core incentives.
Not disagreeing with your points here, btw, just pointing out how few understand how those problems become so huge as to encompass an entire society and why they arise to begin with. I know to most it would sound bonkers to say, “our money caused this,” but a much deeper investigation reveals and extremely compelling story with an eerily large set of historical examples of the very same thing occurring.
“One of the small, but effective, things we can do, is to simply openly acknowledge and clearly state that we are asking them to sacrifice personally and do something that is difficult and challenging, and that we value their willingness to adopt that burden because it is good for all of us, in aggregate, and their family and neighborhood, in particular.
Tell them the truth. No more gaslighting. No more romanticism. No more decades-long search for Mr. 6/6/6. Return to the concept of marriage as a vocation.”
1000% this 👆🏻
Our culture has come to some belief that we should want things because they are easy and we should desire no responsibility and everything is supposed to be easy and always happy. Rather than understanding the meaning and value of those things that are explicitly hard, and accept that.
Our culture has been gaslighting us into believing utter nonsense about all of our choices, pretending there are no trade offs, and that the key to happiness is to escape all responsibility… when life is nothing of the sort.
The secret to life (imo) is accepting and taking head on the inescapable hard things, understanding and being open to the clear trade offs we have to make, and not deluding ourselves with nonsense and fairy tales.
Simply explaining to people that you live on a #Bitcoin standard causes them to stop and think. That I could both get paid, and then pay others in bitcoin and only use dollars when i need to pay fiat bills or work with other vendors/businesses, and immediately convert back to BTC otherwise.
Every time I have explained this to people following their inevitable, "Oh you trade bitcoin?" and I answer with "No I never trade, that's for people who want to lose money, I simply use Bitcoin as my money, I don't keep any value in dollars that I care about over the long term," — they are always surprised and it clearly shifts their view of what bitcoin is and how it works.
Anything that I think I need for the month I keep in dollars. Anything that I think is extra goes back into #Bitcoin.
- When I need more dollars I convert about $1-3K at a time from BTC->USD.
- When I have too many dollars I convert the opposite direction, basically any amount. I'm always doing small buys and stacks through a bunch of different methods.
- Also if the price dips a lot I just buy, even if i need the BTC for something else generally. I'll just get a short term loan or something if I need to.
Correction: Even if I need the *USD* for something else. example, I got our USD for a bunch of home construction on the basement, but fomo'd hard into BTC when it dropped to 53-55K range.
Well I have a shocking proportion of them eventually come around to asking me how to buy it, so I think it’s more genuine than not. But I’m sure there are plenty who just think I’m insane.
Granted I’ve been in #Bitcoin for 14 years and for more than the first half of that time EVERYONE thought I was completely retarded, so that’s not remotely new 😂
I would really love to use Flare but there's something wrong with their analytics. Nothing shows views of any kind and no information seems to propogate. Been that way for half a year. Really wish they would figure that out because it would be a really cool service.

Basic incentives make this pretty clear, imo. You can’t produce controlled experiments for social systems however, yet another way empirical “science” used by politics is a farce. This is the whole problem with mainstream economics actually.

Who knows of an actually decent time lapse camera that has good focus ability and a wide angle of view? (ie. can grab a whole room, but also a close up of a plant or object without needing to be 10 feet away? - 5 ft is workable)
I've been using my phone for time lapse stuff which certainly works and I really love it, but its an enormous pain having to have your phone inaccessible while you are working on stuff, or to have it set up somewhere for hours where its using10x the battery it needs for timelapse because its updating 100 other things in the background and vibrating like crazy every time i get a text or call.
It's just not optimal and I do a TON of time lapse video these days so it's time to get a dedicated device I think. Especially with some work I'm planning after the studio is together.
If anyone has experience with this let me know.

State of the Basement/Studio.
Day 5 of framing/layout/concrete prep for plumbing
I'm going to try to do regular updates and progress reports on this just so you guys can know what's happening if interested. And I've got an @Asanoha piece on the way that I am super stoked to have hanging in my studio one day soon 🔥
Fully laid out our very complicated stairs setup to make it fit. Not what we originally designed but it'll look nice.

I would zap way more if my setup was better, been needing to switch over to Albyhub. My Zeus + LNC to Start9 setup is pretty unreliable. Not only does it take the bounce over to another app because of iOS stupid restrictions, but a significant portion of the time I get an RPC error or it doesn’t connect to my node for some reason. Been really unimpressed with LNC
Ok people, I need help.
What brand of washer and dryer do you hate, and which do you like/has worked for you.
I’m avoiding anything with digital screens because I’ve literally only ever heard and experienced them to be unreliable, unfixable without a “certified technician,” and annoying AF.
If anyone has any useful info or experiences with washer/dryer combo feel free to dump your advice below. #asknostr #homestr
You could kinda say I’m an RFK fan, at least from the context of his #Bitcoin stance, but his move to support Trump wouldn’t be the least bit surprising really. I certainly don’t hold him to any standard other than I’m impressed with his grasp of Bitcoin after only a couple of years. In the end, he’s a politician and I don’t expect him to behave as anything other than that.
Holy crap, I discovered today that people are literally scared of — and wearing masks to protect from — the “Monkey Pox Epidemic.”
They are legit scared and believe the media is telling them about something important and relevant to their lives.
It’s weird how totally disconnected I am from that dumb shit now. I legit thought it was nothing but memes.
Why I think the idea of “superintelligence” and “AGI” is HEAVILY exaggerated or misunderstood:
Assuming we have Ai much smarter than the average human, smarter than the typical PhD (granted smart and “PhD” are not at all equal but for the sake of simplicity). If (or when) this occurs, this will not mean Ai will just be able to invent whatever we need or make all decisions better than anyone else. And I think all we have to do is look at humans to make this simple assessment —
• If we asked a physicist and a biologist what was the most important thing to focus our time and resources on, do you suspect the physicist would find something related to physics and the biologist would find something biological?
This points to the question of speciality. What an Ai is trained on will determine what and how it values things, and there is no amount of information that will make it perfect and forever aligned with the truth at all times. It will always have a weight toward something, because the question of WHAT to value for training and for dedicating resources is present at all stages. It presupposes that we already have the answer if we assume Ai will just magically come up with it.
• in addition, the answer to “where should we devote resources” isn’t static. It changes year to year, month to month, even minute to minute sometimes. It is a question of value and judgement. The only way to sort out this relationship is through trade and competition, denoting the **necessity** of Ai that compete and exchange data and resources.
• General intelligence is useful, but extremely inefficient. Generalists are great to have for combining and relating ideas, but specialists still down into the true details and do the dirty work of real building and fine tuning of the world. Specialization isn’t just an economic phenomenon, it’s a physical reality of the universe. It will be the same with Ai, because Ai doesn’t defy universal laws, it’s just a computer program.
— A giant, trillion dollar cluster AGI will not be as valuable or produce nearly as good results or decision making capability as 10,000 much smaller and specialized AI’s focused on their own corner and trading resources with others to accomplish their task or test the ideas or paths of progress apparent from their vantage point. Nothing in nature resembles the former.
• Intelligence isn’t an omnipotent, unrestricted power. Mental intelligence isn’t the only kind of intelligence. I think as humans we have become deeply arrogant about the fact that we are “so smart” and we have begun to worship our own intelligence in such a way that if we ever imagine something smarter, then it MUST be God and it must be without any limits or flaws at all. Yet there is nothing to suggest this. The “smartest” people today often have the greatest blinders on, and everyone is only as good as the information they have and the values lens through which they see everything.
While the intelligence explosion will be shockingly disruptive and revolutionary in many ways, and while I do see it as an extremely likely outcome in the rather near future, I think the vision of a giant, all powerful AGI dropped on the world like a nuclear bomb is increasingly a projection of our own ignorance and arrogance. It simply doesn’t hold water, imo.
Covered a lot of these ideas in the 31st episode of Ai Unchained:

Like @keet dont tweet said, rumor has it that they are building an entirely different, non-blockchain system built on the pear stack. Supposedly have been working on it for some time. Hopefully they have something for it soon. What I’ve heard sounds really interesting
