 the more i think about it, getting better at reusing used items seems like a very powerful anti-scale anti-capitalist technique. you can't just mindlessly add more zeroes when your source material is all different. software stops being a useful solution and it becomes a sightly unique annoyance each time you interact with it. 
 quoting techcrunch's raspi 5 article from yesterday:

so. if you don't need "scale", and maybe no human should need scale, maybe a secondhand laptop or phone is a better choice.

used hardware puts $0 in the hands of folks like TSMC or Broadcomm or the Pi foundation and their police.
