@12e2f193@e0b309a7 Very good point about introducing disease. I would probably avoid the bleach, but alcohol will evaporate off so won't have an effect on the soil biology that I've been nurturing.
I've just watched a collaborative video with a well known no digger and a controversial nutritionist and my brain alarm bells are ringing. I do no dig because it works for me physically and I have observed an increase in soil macro life. But I would never claim that my produce is more nutritious and healthier than anyone elses. It may be, but I don't "know". A question: should this well known person be pushing pseudoscience or am I over reacting?
My first time growing Cape gooseberries. Really no more difficult than tomatoes. I'm the only one in the family who likes them, so get to eat the whole crop. This year I've been experimenting growing more unusual things. I also have yacon to look forward to, although I don't think I was great on keeping it watered, but hopefully the crown will yield enough new plants for me to dedicate a bed to them.

As the growing cycle comes to a close, a chance to review what went well or not. Considering the weather and the small size of the plot, I'm happy that most thing went well. The tomatoes came good, I have cracked how to grow aubergines, and every day since April I've eaten something from the plot. Financially, I've spent about £100, on compost and seed. I've got a freezer full of food and lots of preserves. Failures include courgette and squash. Privileged to have the time and energy.
