Reminder to U.K. 'Motorists'
When Rishi Sunak says he's on your side, what he means is that he's going to cancel loads of public transport projects, forcing more cars on to the roads and making all your journeys even more congested and miserable than they already are.
You'll be stuck in a traffic jam, but, please, do enjoy the freedom Sunak has given to you.

In the U.K., PM Sunak has announced the cancellation of the HS2 high speed rail link from Birmingham to Manchester.
There has been a lot of focus on what this means for Manchester, but it's worth remembering this will affect the whole of the rail network.
The HS2 website is still up, and you can look wryly at the original plans for 'Europe's fastest high speed train network' that will connect everywhere from London to Edinburgh.
It's not just about Manchester.

In the U.K. Sacha Lord, business advisor and spokesperson for the self employed, has rented the biggest digital advertising board in Manchester, right outside the conference centre for the entire duration of the Tory Conference.
Rishi Sunak- "I ignored 3.8 million self employed people during the pandemic, because the didn't vote Tory."

40 wildlife and climate action groups protest outside DEFRA offices in London, U.K. demanding to 'Restore Nature Now'

In the U.K., PM Sunak has just said that people in the North of England would rather have a good road network than a good rail network.
Firstly, no. In the North we are crying out for a useable rail network. We drive cars because we have to, not because we want to.
Secondly, again, no. Why is it a binary choice between a good road network or a good rail network? Why not, you know, BOTH?

U.K. Government greenlight huge Rosebank North Sea oil field.
"There are strong grounds to believe that the way this government has come to this decision is unlawful and we will see them in court if so."
"We shouldn’t have to fight this government for cheap, clean energy and a livable climate, but we will.”

UK. Home Secretary Suella Braverman is to give a speech today in which she will argue that giving asylum to refugees on the basis they fear persecution over their sexuality in their home country is a major reason why there has been an upsurge in asylum applications.
To put this into context, there were 74,751 asylum applications (relating to 89,398 people) in the UK in 2022 and just 2% of those cited sexual orientation.
She's lying. Again.

"If Michael Tomlinson KC, Solicitor General, hoped that prosecuting Trudi Warner, a 68 year old retired social worker from Walthamstow, East London would deter others, it’s not going to plan.
On Monday, 25 September, days after Mr Tomlinson announced his decision prosecute Ms Warner, 252 members of the public replicated her action outside criminal courts around the country, from Truro to Carlisle, from Swansea to the Old Bailey."

“In 2023 telling the truth is being treated as a criminal act, with people prosecuted for displaying facts in public, and imprisoned for explaining their motivations in their own defence in a court of law. I am deeply afraid of a world where truth, science and morality are not important, or where we are not free to fight for them.”

"Iranian armed forces have reportedly shot a young man in the head near the cemetery where Mahsa Amini is buried in the Kurdish town of Saqqez.
Today is the one-year anniversary of the death of the 22-year-old woman in police custody that sparked months of protests across the country.
Fardin Jafari, 27, from Saqqez, was shot by government forces while travelling from Saqqez to the city of Baneh, near Aichi cemetery."

First of all, and most of all, I want to give a massive salute to all those people who refuse to give in to climate doom, and couldn't give a damn what climate doomers say.
If you're determined to keep pushing for meaningful action on climate change no matter what the charts and graphs are saying, you are golden.
You will save this planet. Just keep going. You've got this.

In the U.K. today, you might see one or two photos of one or two protestors standing outside courts in solidarity with Trudi Warner, who is on trial for contempt of court for holding up a sign outside a court.
The photos won't tell you that there are over 250 protestors outside courts up and down the country holding up the same sign as Trudi Warner.
"Jurors have an absolute right to give their verdict according to their convictions."
