New podcast idea I want to put out.
Know the game you’re playing and learn the rules of the game.
There are many games to play:
- corporate ladder (job hopping, sales)
- real estate (brrr, fix n flip, etc)
- stocks (dividend, Nancy tracker, passive etf, swing/momentum traders)
- business (many sub games as a biz owner, like 1,000 true fans, etc)
- finally bitcoin game (buy, put in cold storage, hold, educate, circular economy).
What would you add?
Normally I see a 10-20 cent gas price discrepancy based on how close the gas station is to the highway vs shopping/residential area.
In the last week I’ve seen several gas stations drop 40+ cents, from ~$3.00 to ~2.60.
Anyone else notice this?
I’m using balance transfers to pay off my 8.5% heloc.
Lock in a 3-5%balance transfer at 0%, then attack the heloc with my paychecks, and once it’s gone, hammer the credit cards/do more balance transfers to buy more time.
Not a super fun game but it is what it is
A story on parenting.
monday, my toddler puked like ten times in 12 hours, then was fine.
Last night we went to a little get together, kids had pizza and played. went home. my wife went to bet at ten and i stayed up for another hour, just cleaned up a bit. was doing dishes and heard a kid coughing and decided to go check.
5 seconds too late and my boy puked all over his floor, then in the hall on the way to the bathroom. set him up to sleep in my bathroom on a spare toddler bed next to a bucket.
Went and cleaned it up as much as I could.
Then my oldest girl came out saying her tummy felt heavy.
set her up in a camping cot next to brother in the bathroom with her bucket.
all this time my wife is crying, 36 weeks pregnant, she's at her wits end you could say.
I also just had an orthopedic surgery 2 weeks ago so I haven’t been super helpful lately, but getting better.
We lay down to go to sleep and get up ten minutes later after my oldest spews.
I slept the rest of the night but my wife got up with her 2x more between 1 and 5am.
She's back in bed now sleeping, kids are watching movies. Toddler threw a huge fit this morning but got her off to preschool.
Also, my wife’s birthday is this week and now we are trying to sell tickets to a show we had tonight since we don't want babysitters to watch sick kids and get sick.
Also one of my kids has moloscum and another has impetigo on their eyebrow/eyelid.
Things I’ve never heard of before.
So anyway, things are crazy.
Pray for us if you believe in that.
Better than me being centralized in google mail/docs like I am now.
What would you recommend as an alternative?

You may have a point but there are trade offs
While my fiat mining job leaves a fair amount to be desired, I’ve convinced my boss to let us get Beta mode on some software we use that has features that will fix some issues with our most problematic ETL’s/dataflows.
Essentially paying off some technical debt. Will keep me busy for a while.
Took me 3 or 4 approaches to get this functionality approved but now I have months of work to do that is potentially very high impact

Having a two-year-old means that some days you will find your bathroom scale in the hall by the front door.
It’s amazing how much random stuff they can relocate so quickly.
In the future the phrase “I feel like a million bucks” will be replaced with the phrase:
“I feel like a #bitcoin”
As in, one whole bitcoin.
What would they say in Zimbabwe? “I feel like 100 Quadrillion bucks?”
Have you ever had an itch and thought to yourself “Not today, I’m not gonna scratch that itch, I’m gonna wait until it goes away. I’m better than you and will outlast you!”
I watched Young Woman and the Sea with the family over the past two days.
Led to some great discussions with my oldest daughter about how some people, when they are put down, made fun of, doubted, it’s like pouring water on a fire.
For other people, it’s like putting another log on the fire, more fuel, and they use it to motivate them, the prove them wrong and be better.
Great film, amazing story. Watch it with your daughters, be the father Trudy’s father became over time.

Interesting. I swore a lot in high school but decided more dignified language was better as I read the Bible more.
I went to a football game yesterday and passed a mom on the phone walking with two kids around 5-8 and heard her use the D and F word, and was sad for those kids. I don’t think we need 5 year olds familiar with swear words.
I haven’t sworn in several years now, maybe 5, and since 2010 maybe less then 10 out loud swear words. My goal is for my kids to never hear me swear. I heard my dad do it a fair bit, my mom rarely.
Now, before I go getting attacked, I tolerate swear words both at work and with other random people, but the more someone swears, the less inclined I am to continue to hang out with them.
I like to hang out with people that are intentional and trying to become better, people with self control, and people that respect others, and good language ticks all boxes to me.
That said, i don’t mind biblical swears much (A, D, H word). I am a fan of Lyn, I’m a fan of Foss and he swears a lot.
But does it make me cringe? Yes. Sometimes I want to share something with my wife but won’t due to language.
Anyway, big fan Lyn, and at the same time a big fan of James chapter 3. Thoughts become words, words become actions. I found it much easier to not swear when I changed to music that doesn’t swear - that’s another reason I like Linkin Park, little to no swearing on albums but still hard rock.
To me it’s all about being fully intentional and in control of my speech in a way that respects other people at all times. Or, let the content of the speech offend (differing opinion), but not the delivery (crude words)
Alright bitcoiners that still own stocks.
I have an HSA. I own some WAGMI, some miners, some in cash, some in index funds.
What should I put it in?
I have a traditional IRA that’s 5% mstr and 8% miners, the rest is index funds
My wife has a Roth IRA, what should she buy? Right not, she only has index funds.
She tolerates my bitcoin stuff (we are breakeven but still paying off a heloc we used to get allocated 2 years ago… she won’t be super happy until that’s paid off).
Anyway, what do you recommend, aside from transferring to bitcoin IRA’s?

Yeah, on traditional IRA’s if you get too much in there. Just say some absurd number like 50 million.
You have withdraw and pay tax and there’s no way to mitigate that.
So I do have a Roth bitcoin ira with unchained but my traditional I’m hesitant and more likely to stick with mstr and miners, other companies of interest.
Normally my wife cuts my hair (she learned how pre Covid to save money).
But we are going on a trip and I wanted it cut before, not enough time for her to do it.
Off to the barber, he’s been in business 17 years.
He says that since Covid, 19 barbers have closed their doors just within out county, not counting chains like sports/great clips.
The scissors he uses now cost $600, up from $450 pre Covid. Prices went up because less shops are there to buy them.
And then remote workers (like me) not coming in as regularly as before.
He had to take 25k from retirement to keep the shop open and it’s still not back to how it was 3 years ago, but he has scrimped and saved to try and get back on his track.
We talked about #Bitcoin next, and what I thought.
Haircut was $22, I paid 30, and offered to send him bitcoin too but he didn’t have his phone? Maybe next time. I’d guess he’s in his 50’s… probably has a smart phone.
But at least left him with my podcast website on a card and hope he listens.

I think you miss something a lot of the times because you are so willfully ignorant about it.
It can come across as really naive and you shut down the convo because you lack intellectual curiosity.
You don’t read macroeconomics well
Everyone doesn’t care and they are worse off for it.
