zPay.live is shifting its focus to the V4V model (Value for Value).

Paywalls will remain an option, but we will prioritize upcoming V4V features.

What to expect:

 * CrowdWall: When a target is reached, content unlocks for everyone. (in-progress)

* V4V Paywalls (Flexible price) : Buyers can choose their own price, & creators can set limits if they want. (shipping in few days)

* Blossom built-in storage & multiple file/folder upload option is also coming soon.

Do you have any further suggestions?
Classic paywall options will still be available but won’t be the default. You’ll have more and better options, including a whole new category of #V4V options.

Currently testing a 'Pay-What-You-Want' (PWYW) model for quick, portable fundraising, with content remaining complementary. Just need a good description with .md support.

PWYW might even become the new default 🤔

You're so quick! I saw your note this morning about adding this feature, and it's already shipped. Congrats man!

I'm also planning to add this to my paywall services. It works great for static website hosting too.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.
Blossom Media Server for direct file upload on zPay.live

I recently learned about the Blossom Media Server, though I haven’t deployed or integrated it yet. I have a question:

If I understand correctly, it offers two upload options: one encrypted and one unencrypted, which is publicly shareable. Can someone access the unencrypted, publicly shareable content without its unique URL?
No matter who you are, what side of politics you’re on, or how angry you are, always preserve your humanity.

Some people have completely lost it and become worse creatures imaginable.

I'm currently 24, and if I had the option to go back in time and give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be to spend more time on Math. Why?

Math is one of the most powerful subjects you can learn today; it governs almost everything fascinating you can think of.

It’s the foundational language of all engineering and scientific fields, and maybe even for the universe, at least from our perspective.

Even if you’re in a completely unrelated or non-technical field, learning and practicing math will still make you generally smarter.

Regular practice in math physically changes your brain, enhancing its plasticity and strengthening the neural circuits responsible for problem-solving.

Don’t just take my word for it, give it an honest try.

After just one month of consistent practice, you’ll feel noticeable improvements in your brain's ability to process complex information, recognize advanced patterns, and unique problem-solving mindset.

Finally, if you’re not a so-called “math person” (a notion I completely disagree with), it doesn’t matter. Practice it like an exercise for your brain. Even if you don’t become a great mathematician, you’ll be sharper and smarter than before. You have nothing to lose.

Learn #Math #Nostr
One tip really helped me revisit math and made it less painful and easier to understand.

Context: I absolutely hated math. I opted out of it in the 10th grade and didn’t look at it for two years. No one on Earth could have convinced me to practice math every day.

But then I started my computer science studies, which forced me to learn math (probably the best thing that happened). More interestingly, studying math specifically around CS topics I was already familiar with made the initial learning process much less painful. In fact, I enjoyed it from day one.

This might be the key: instead of diving into raw math directly, especially when getting started, try approaching it through a field or concept you’re already interested in. Learn the math behind concepts you already understand. If you know the theory, try explaining or proving it with mathematical equations.

The first partial differential equation I solved on my own was Einstein’s field equation for a solar system model I was working on. I didn’t end up using it, post-Newtonian physics was enough but looking back, I’m pretty sure I’d never have solved it if I hadn’t enjoyed it.

So, in simple words: find a scientific or engineering concept with strong mathematical foundations, and practice with that.

This worked for me, but everyone is different. Just putting it out there—someone might find it helpful.

You should maybe start with a resource that covers all the basic fundamental topics like linear algebra, calculus, differential equations, and probability in a very digestible way.

Assuming you already have some previous mathematical knowledge, this playlist might be a perfect fit for you.

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZHQObOWTQDPD3MizzM2xVFitgF8hE_ab

Once you complete the first one, you should start this one. By the way, don’t rush.

Side note: Pay close attention to linear transformations in the first playlist. Once you understand that, everything else becomes much simpler.
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZHQObOWTQDMsr9K-rj53DwVRMYO3t5Yr
This might be a little controversial, but one could argue that math, in reality, is more powerful than God in mythology.
I agree, I would also add even people from Dharmic religions have also made significant contributions.

I also disagree with this whole notion that religions were entirely anti-science. There were certainly some serious restrictions, but they were quite specific. Innovation overall was always encouraged.
Nostr users should interact More with each other through replies or at least reactions when they find something interesting or attention-catching.

Encouraging this makes the place much more lively, & we’re fortunate to have a very interesting group of people here, we should take advantage of that.
Also, follow the people you interact with, it also keeps your feed fresh & alive.
Depends on the qoute in some cases.
That should definitely be a option. When implemented correctly, algorithms can open up a world of possibilities.

When Semisol says all websites are insecure and can be backdoored by a developer unilaterally at will, he's absolutely correct.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Here's how I'm addressing it with NostrHub:

By bundling my website with its code and turning it into a single executable file, when the file is clicked, it opens the NostrHub page in your browser.

The key part: instead of using my server, hosting, and domain, it uses your NostrHub bundle and runs locally on your device, no server or setup required. Think of it like self-hosting on steroids.

Once you download the website bundle, the developer has no further control over it. The user truly has full control, which is extremely rare on the web. Even if the developer is compromised, no backdoors can be added.

To update, you simply download the updated bundle and replace the previous one.

This approach may not sound flashy, but it genuinely addresses a fundamental issue with the web as a whole.

Thanks for sharing, Just 10 minutes ago I was going through you relay web hosting repo.

Nostr relay will be primary hosting for my NostrHub public website with PKDNS. It's very lightweigh.
Now that I’m thinking more about it, it might be straightforward to enable a version directly & transparently using relay. I should do some testing. 🤔

 Brainstorming!

Objectives: Reduce dependency on traditional domains across my Nostr web app.

Why: Traditional domains are centralized and controlled by governments. Not ideal for freedom tools/apps.

Idea: Create a lightweight static website called "NostrHub," which will serve as a quick-access hub to all my other Nostr web apps.

Plan:

1. First Step: Host the lightweight NostrHub website on Nostr relays and IPFS, making it accessible through TOR, IPFS gateways, Freenet, and other decentralized storage or P2P access options.

2. Second Step (my favorite, though a bit unorthodox): Convert the NostrHub website/code into an offline bundle that can be shared as a zip file. When unzipped and clicked, this bundle will open the NostrHub page in your browser, running locally without relying on domains or web hosting—essentially self-hosted.

The offline website bundle also addresses a more fundamental issue with the web ecosystem. Unlike traditional websites, offline bundled sites can’t be unilaterally changed or modified by the developer, making them trustless and truly giving users full control over the website, its code, and any updates.

This approach will eliminate the single point of failure posed by centralized domains, make all apps easily accessible, and provide users with a more private way to access them.

This is a rough outline. Suggestions for improvements are welcome!

Sure, is there any functional implementation of this standard at the moment?

Btw nostrudel is a highly capable PWA client, it could really play a very significant role in the Nostr web app ecosystem, especially micro-apps.
Thanks, I think this might be it. I tested some other Nostr web hostings, & this one is by far the best. It's super straightforward & effectively mitigates the fundamental issues.

Interestingly, I was open to all types of options, even outside Nostr. I tested dozens so far, and Nostr is literally the best option I've found. We really might be onto something.

Domains not only serve as a single point of failure but also open up significant attack vectors, especially if the state is involved.

I want to take this opportunity to create a solution that mitigates this issue. This will be my new project, I will share more details soon.

This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks
It seems the domain registrar I used got banned in my home country. I didn't realize this as I was abroad, and everything appeared normal.

However, my payment processor was based in my home country, which blocked the auto-renewed transaction.

Consequently, I lost my domains, and now they're being resold for a 50x markup.

Please recommend a reliable domain registrar that accepts Bitcoin and isn't susceptible to government censorship.

#AskNostr
Namecheap is also banned in my home country, but if it supports Bitcoin, it shouldn't be a problem. I used it before but didn’t know it accepted Bitcoin. Thanks!

Thanks, I did some research. Turns out Namecheap got banned in my country because they refused to comply with government censorship, which is perfect. With an anonymous account and Bitcoin payments, it's the best option for me.

Also, relying entirely on traditional domains isn’t a good move. We need something better or at least more options.
It's worse than we realized. Yesterday, the payment was declined, yet it was immediately 'taken.' but "Fortunately", this particular one has a 'special' brokerage option.

I don't care about the domain, but this is terrible for 'freedom tool/app' or any web app. They can now run a large phishing attack.

Traditional domains are terrible, we need something better.
So, it seems you can't contribute to FOSS if you were born in the 'wrong' country.

I can build a crowd-paywall that unlocks content for everyone after reaching a targeted amount of zaps. 🤔
Once a user purchases content, there's no foolproof way to prevent them from sharing it with others.

We could make it harder by becoming content gatekeepers, worsening the experience with authorizations and restrictions.

Or we could design it as a freedom tool for both users and creators, allowing them to manage it themselves with mutual respect and a web of trust.

Hey Calle, I need some suggestions. If you don't mind!

What would be the best approach for accepting a specified amount of Cashu tokens, getting confirmation, and transferring that amount to a Lightning wallet, specifically Alby wallets?

I’d prefer not to store tokens, but rather act as a real-time proxy to the Lightning address with confirmation.
It will be like a Click & unlocked 🤔, much better experience.
The zPay.live/api/gr API endpoint is now public for testing.

It encrypts your content, packages it as a URL with a cryptographic signature, and then shortens the URL. It handles all these steps for you, returning a paywalled URL.

Working on other endpoints
https://i.imgur.com/U7hy5gh.jpeg
 Test
API will now provide both short and long URLs. The short URL acts as a proxy; when a user opens it in their browser, the original URL will appear in the address bar. https://image.nostr.build/11d03d52bc9c32518e26331c808c8e7e2de52c171d01eaffbd2bee5086d84224.jpg
This API is accessible to everyone and incredibly straightforward. You can seamlessly incorporate it into nostr DM bots, and voilà, you've got a paid newsletter!
nostr:nevent1qqsptekgp5e6mtugn8t7d966z0glc2qm0yz3lfp7xs900uvq963c39cpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuvrcvd5xzapwvdhk6tczyrr0wpmlz6va2r8e92t990ltl7kqtlrgg2u7uwgs38v4nw9dt4y06qcyqqqqqqgclpcxg
Don't worry, the data is public by design. The real secret is away in the serverless functions environment. Custom encryption keys option in api is on the horizon!
Can you please elaborate, data in url is encrypted, price & ln address is cryptographically signed, can't be modified
Current zPay.live shareable paywall URL takes 2-3 sec to open & 1-2 sec to generate a payment invoice, which isn’t too bad. For U.S. users, it's slightly faster.

New version, however, takes mere milliseconds for both processes 🤌, low latency worldwide 🕊️ using concurrency & edge functions.

After further testing & polishing, it’ll be live.
https://video.nostr.build/3367082670ee501bad830eb398e3cf0bc2632187a2ac44d26f068696be4de591.mp4
It doesn’t use a centralized database. The content URL is encrypted, packaged within the URL, & cryptographically signed to ensure integrity (preventing tampering of price and wallet address).

When you click on the URL, it performs calculations, compares the hash & verifies the URL. Once verified, it initiates the invoice creation, which now runs concurrently and can be canceled later if needed. Wallet providers have their own limitations.

Lambda serverless functions can scale up to millions of requests per second, but they have a warm-up time and noticeable latency, especially for users far from a data center. The new implementation uses Edge functions distributed worldwide, which is the best possible option currently.

The short URL is simply a lightweight edge proxy with caching, and in the browser's address bar, you’ll see the original URL.

After the USSR's disintegration, US became the world's dominant power, potentially the first global hegemony.

It had the option to prioritize improving its citizens' living standards and guiding the world toward a better future.

Instead, US chose perpetual war and is directly or indirectly responsible for some of the worst atrocities in the past 25 years.

The world deserves better.
Yeah, it's pretty solid when it comes to privacy. Imagine building something like this on Nostr, it'd be 10 times better with Nostr's flexibility and easy integration!
It's very well thought out, especially regarding metadata privacy; even the server host can't track user messages on their hosted servers/relay.

Other privacy-related features, like incognito mode, provide an extra layer of anonymity on top of your already anonymous account.

On the downside, they are VC and billionaire funded, so things could change at any time.

Hopefully, we will have our own truly private DMs very soon.
I really need help understanding international politics, especially American involvement in the Middle East & Israel. I'm quite confused.

> Is it true that most of the wars the U.S. has fought in the Middle East were primarily in Israel's interest?

Is this true, partially true, or completely false?

> If true, why are Americans allowing it? Are they unaware of this, do they support it, or is there another reason?

>If not, how do people explain the "Clean Break" memo, AIPAC funding, and the seemingly unwavering support for Israel's current policies?

I genuinely want to understand this and mean no harm to anyone.
