Is there any VPS hosting provider that you absolutely love?
I'm looking for one to host my media content. Please let me know if you're aware of any good hosting providers with:
- control panel with VNC client and custom ISO image boot
- hosted in a DMCA-ignored zone
- honest ≈1 Gbps outgoing speed
- ≥15 GiB SSD/NVMe disk space with a possibility to extend it later
- ≥1 GiB RAM
- monthly renewal with a possibility to switch to an annual renewal
- competitive price with no hidden additional charges (like for traffic overuse, etc.)
Yeah, I'm aware of S3 and all this, thanks :) S3/blossom/etc. storage providers in DMCA-free zones are also interesting, I wonder whether they even exist.
Thanks 🙏🏼
Thanks! Yeah, Hetzner is a popular one, however it's not in a DMCA-ignored zone.
Turns out I incorrectly added a link to my post for context: https://codonaft.com/installing-alpine-linux-on-pain-in-the-ass-hosting-providers/
I heard some of such hosting providers suddenly terminate accounts for absurd reasons. Bogus DMCA notices in particular _might_ be a popular reason for that, at least on media servers.
I'm also looking for a VPS with these criteria because I'm tired of weird unreliable ways of installing OS on some of them. Hetzner doesn't seem to support boot from _custom_ ISO images, right? https://gist.github.com/c0m4r/e38d41d0e31f6adda4b4c5a88ba0a453#introduction
What I've learned about Nostr by improving ZapThreads and how do we improve NIP-07 UX
https://codonaft.com/improved-zapthreads
I forked ZapThreads to add something:
- Voting for comments (Reddit and YouTube-like)
- Comment removal
- Auto thread collapsing for too long discussions
- Customizable comments filtering, sanitizing and ranking
- Moderation (reporting and mute-listing)
- Relays retrieval from browser extension and from relay list
- Optional persistent sessions
- Relay capabilities testing using NIP-11
- Callbacks for better website integration
- Bugfixes and performance optimizations
This is NIP-07 only version (no anonymous posting/raw nsec authentication).
Feel free to try it: https://github.com/codonaft/zapthreads-codonaft#readme
Thanks to @franzap for building the original version! 💜
I actually thought about disallowing comments with *too many* emojis (since they are often spammy), but didn't expect to have comments purely emojional 😆
I'll relax filters for now to think what should I do with them, thanks!
