Some of the grape vines I bought actually had a few grapes on em. I'm going to cut them back a lot tho this winter so I probably won't have enough to make any test runs of wine till 2025. I didn't amend the soil in any way, I want to see what ones thrive in the local clay basically making a huge test plot with 54 different varieties.
@woodland creature :pleroma_fox_tan: Yeah watching old people deteriorate and be all like it is what it is when they could at least do 50 bean can reps a day of sorts to be able to move their own bodies around is weird.
@woodland creature :pleroma_fox_tan: I guess part of why I justified buying workout equipment was so I can hopefully wipe my own ass if I make it to 90.
So the lot I'm gonna design the next greenhouse for is 25' wide with two brick buildings on each side, I wonder if they encroach on the building I want to build If I can take a portapower and shoulder the building in....Would suck to build an I Beam frame and it not fit between the buildings in certain spots.
@woodland creature :pleroma_fox_tan: I'm about ready to try anything for the apple trees and nut trees. They super easy to mold. My success rate for apple trees is probably around 3%.
@woodland creature :pleroma_fox_tan: All my avocado tissue culture samples molded t-t. I'll try again once this tree kicks out new branches in like 6 months. Tempted to order another half dozen avocado trees before it gets too cold, don't like falling a year behind in production of trees that I want. Think I need like a certain mix of varieties as well for proper pollination. They have weird quirks.
Urge to move my lab bench to the wall and get 3 more 4k tv monitors....... NOOOO that's shop floor concrete. My friend said to budget $8 per sq ft of shop floor for concrete expense. That's twice what I was thinking before.
I can relate to pipa on the losing 20 years off my life from mold, I used my mom's old feather quilt in Jr High and Highschool and had bronchitis all the freaking time. Went to college with new bedding and stopped being sick all the time.
@woodland creature :pleroma_fox_tan: My welder friend takes a pack of em and cuts them in the middle in half with a bench grinder. So has like 20 ready to go when he gets new ones.
@woodland creature :pleroma_fox_tan: yee. Smaller might not necessarily be cheaper for me since my dad has 3 100hp explosion proof motors just sitting hanging out in his barn. Been trying to think of machines I can make that use those, the motors would be the main expense. Bearings probably second.
@woodland creature :pleroma_fox_tan: Maybe one of us can build and share a brick extruder. My brother has some local bricks from long ago that are extruded large clay bricks. Like 12"x12"x5", I might use one of those as a pattern.
Kinda want to try making some of those portland cement/soapy water foam blocks. Looks to be maybe better insulation than hay bales and looks smarter than a hay bale wall as well. Could do those for the outside and inside walls in my shop. I think it might only be about 50 cents per cubic foot. Would probably stucco the outside with a modern stucco to keep moisture out of it because I'd be afraid of freeze damage. Would also need hollow top blocks and some with cores to throw rebar down and fill with real concrete for dealing with the 80mph winds that happen like every year here.
