For what it’s worth - it looks like @jb55 will be releasing an Android version of @damus soon - so you’ll be able to try out that client (which is currently my favorite, since it very much resembles the Twitter/X user experience without the spammy ads, censorship and stupid algos).
That’s true, but the rest of the headers meant the mail came from a legitimate source and was signed with a legitimate key. So they must’ve been compromised in some way.
Exactly. Maybe there is a market to pay someone to archive all your tweets (including other nostriches comments on them). At ~60 GB a month (with the current nostr usage) shit adds up quickly.
Not me… Had to mute X notifications because it kept pinging me with useless posts (sometimes of people I didn’t even follow) in order to pull me back in. Sometimes I had 3-5 notifications *a day* although there was no interaction with my account.
I still recall your X account from the good old lightning node running days - you still have yours? I recall you deleting your whole node’s files by accident and then having to recover all the FC’s…
Ah sorry. Must’ve gotten you mixed up with "Commissario Morino". He was not happy about that. Was a pain to recover the funds. I only run a small BTCPay server CLN these days with about 4 channels… It’s on 24/7 so I can skip the custodial part.
But would totally recommend going custodial for less than 100 bucks of funds for the convenience.
Mobile lightning wallets are offline when the app is not open.
Refunding the channel opening fee is infeasible at the moment, because this would only be economical after the user has spend as much in forwarding fees (and then some).
That’s due to how it was implemented in Zeus wallet. Other non custodial wallets can’t receive at all (unless running a full lightning node all the time).
Sure. Just like with credit cards today, an LSP could offer a service where they refunded you parts of or the full channel opening fee after X amount of volume.
But unlike with credit cards, you’re the one that will be paying for the transactions (not the receiving party).
NIP-05 is an easy way to provide a proof as to your identity. It does not prove that the identity is trustworthy.
Generic NIP-05s are fairly worthless since you’re not in control of it. If you use a domain you own, for the NIP-05 @btcpayserver supports this) it will add a lot more credibility (but will doxx you).
I completely get this. The only downside I would see from this is the regulatory uncertainty with regards to holding (even miniscule) funds in custody.
I completely agree with you, but depending on the jurisdiction it could still pose challenges. This is why most of the LSP’s are very adamant about never being in custody of any funds.
A contactless bitcoin NFC is simply an LNURLw (so basically just a URL) written on an NFC. LNBits allows you to create the LNURLw that you then write onto the NFC chip that you have. Could be any NFC chip. A sticker, a dongle or an NFC enabled card.
Here! Basically zero family income since the beginning of 2023.
Not trading in my valuable time to work half of that time to feed the thing I hate most: Government.
Can relate. Same process here. Haven’t preached about bitcoin in 8 years. If someone asks, I’ll gladly answer any question with enthusiasm - but won’t go there unasked.
Theoretically that’s true - but who would want to use a client where the author of a message can remove comments. The only reason why this works for X is because there is no client that shows you those comments.
Possibly. But everybody else can still enjoy their uncensored and uncensorable version of nostr. This was the main point:
You can make it so that *you* don’t see, whatever *you* don’t want to see.
But you have no way to make it that *others* can’t see, what *you* don’t want *them* to see.
Breez allows you to get incoming channels from other nodes (at least it did the last time I used it. Same with Blixt wallet. Both run variants of LND under the hood.
Both wallets also support LNURLchannel, so you could buy incoming liquidity at a provider that also supports this and can request the channel by scanning a QR code with your wallet.
Not to deep into it, but nostrdb is the local database running on your phone that’ll serve you the events you’re interested in, when using the Damus app. Making it as performant as possible will increase the user experience, since the reaction time of your phone will be faster, making it feel more seamless.
Oh yes. I think I recall this issue from back in 2022. Had a ton of force closes with LND peers because LND liked to throw ERRORs, when it should issue warnings.
This is the LND issue:
https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd/issues/6593
The CLN developers fixed this by just ignoring LND throwing that particular error, otherwise all CLN nodes would have regular FCs with LND, even though LND was the culprit.
Seems to be resolved on the LND side now.
